skeletonkey8: I apologize, I don't follow: Generous Patron and Devoted Druid don't have any specific interaction together. I don't feel like I need a sac outlet here, honestly. I'd like the card better if it gained life when my creatures died and made opponents lose life when theirs died -- then it would work better with Yawgmoth. And Sylvan Anthem has proven great for digging and card selection, and with Yawgmoth ;)
...Still, now that I think of it, I might test the Meathook Massacre. Thanks for making me rethink XD

Testing: Added Grim Hireling, The Meathook Massacre. Removed Sylvan Anthem, Culling Ritual.
September 15, 2021 4:39 p.m.
Culling Ritual - I know its testing cut but how did it play out for you while it had it's stay? Seems like a super powerful ritual, but getting rid of all of your artifacts aside from trinisphere, tokens etc... what did you usually funnel that mana into? Tutoring some combo line, creating an aggressive boardstate?
Rushed Rebirth - Seems SUPER cool. I'm assuming yawgmoth is usually the target if possible.
Grim Hireling - Seems slow, I would love to know how it plays out. Keep us in the loop!
Smell Fear - How has it played for you? Assuming you profilerate, tell your snake to bite someone?

So here is a question i dont think anyone has asked, why no Pattern of Rebirth, just too expensive?

Profet93: Heya! With some testing, I can say the following:
Culling Ritual needs to go back in. It's just too good. I was scared off because it blows up most of my combo pieces, but I think I'll just have to sequence my play better ;)
Rushed Rebirth is bonkers here, honestly. Just amazing every time.
Grim Hireling has been awesome, he almost always makes his mana back immediately. I expect to get 6 Treasures per turn with him.
Smell Fear usually gives me an extra snake or two plus trading a snake for something. It's been decent so far!
I'm tuning this deck back into a proper cEDH form soon, so we'll see where it goes :) Contamination and a couple more stax pieces back in? Going a little closer to Poisonball.
skeletonkey8: Hmmm. Just too easy to counter with spot removal, honestly? And there's too much exiling removal around, and I don't run many sac outlets. I'm not sure it'll be as good as I wish it were. Still, could try it over Survival of the Fittest perhaps.
KrarkTheAngryBoi: I tested that years ago, actually. It just was WAY too slow, and wiped my snakes every turn, and eventually killed Hapatra, leaving me with nothing. I wasn't a huge fan. Midnight Banshee was better, but still got cut :(

Testing changes, to pull it back up to a cEDH level:
OUT: Nesting Grounds, Forest, Survival of the Fittest, Deadly Brew, Liliana's Standard Bearer, Cryptolith Rite, Smell Fear, Sylvan Anthem, Heroic Intervention
IN: Phyrexian Tower (the beautiful alter that Profet93 gave me!), Deathrite Shaman, Worldly Tutor, Noxious Revival, Culling Ritual, Fynn, the Fangbearer, Lotus Petal, Contamination, Opposition Agent
October 4, 2021 2:21 p.m.
So glad the alter is finding it's way into one of your decks :D
Surprised to see Liliana's standard bearer as a test cut, also heroic intervention. But I see that you're going for a more aggressive, cEDH level so it makes sense. Looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. Keep us updated as always my good fellow!

Out of curiosity, how has Fynn worked out for you in the past? I ended up removing him from my list after a couple of games because I never had enough snakes on board for him to do his thing.

I agree with Profet93, i very excited to hear about your results with the stax pieces. Mostly Contamination =D
But what i have been going back and forth on asking is, how is Trinisphere treating you? Does it feel like too much with the low mana curve or that it non-bo's with Plumb the Forbidden. It seems crazy good here and a great extra piece of stax with Collector Ouphe and Culling Ritual to slow down greedy opponents

Profet93, GoldenGolgari, skeletonkey8: Okay, so!
I played some cEDH games with this yesterday. The deck worked wonderfully: I won 2 out of 3, and I should have won the 4th if it wasn't for a really dumb mistake -- I cracked Voidwalker to steal someone else's Earthcraft with my combo in hand, realized afterward that I had zero basics, and immediately died to a combo Voidwalker would have stopped. Welp.
Standard Bearer and Heroic are much better in a more casual format with lots of board wipes. CEDH doesn't have many of those, apart from Toxic Deluge (which Heroic doesn't even stop). Besides, my biggest concern in cEDH is stopping opposing combos rather than protecting my own board. I need to find ways to answer Thassa's Oracle, Ad Nauseam, and Underworld Breach.
I haven't drawn Fynn yet, but I'm optimistic. It's not hard to get 3 or 4 snakes, and then I can two-hit people to death. It's a good, solid wincon when I'm stuck under my own stax pieces.
I got to play both Trinisphere AND Contamination yesterday -- both separately AND in the same game (my poor, poor opponents). Both did wonders, and pretty much won singlehandedly. Note that Plumb the Forbidden does NOT non-bo with Trinisphere :) The copies aren't cast and are thus unaffected.
By and large, I'm very happy with the changes!

I am so glad your changes are working! Mind telling us the opposing commanders you faced? I'm trying to get an understanding of your meta.
I know you love murdering dorks, but how often do opponents use artifact ramp to bypass Contamination? I know you have artifact removal but I'm curious. Or is more testing needed?

I have played 6 cEDH games with Hapatra, and won 5. I should have won the 6th, but see above re: dumb misplays of Voidwalker into Earthcraft XD
Opposing generals (the ones I remember) so far have been: Arcum Dagsson, Jhoira, Weatherlight Captain, Najeela, the Blade-Blossom, Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow, Naru Meha, Master Wizard, Tymna/Thrasios, Tymna/Silas, Kenrith, Kess, Jeleva, Magda, Mazirek, and Kinnan.
On the subject of artifact ramp, Collector Ouphe and artifact removal has kept that decently locked down.

skeletonkey8: True. I've been considering it. But 3 mana is a lot to hold up.

Bolas's Citadel could be a good sac outlet for snakes

Wendithewendigo: Hmm. It's possible, I suppose! I'll stick it in the maybeboard. I don't really run the pieces to take advantage of Citadel, though.

So out of curiosity, (again), have you ever had the problem of decking yourself out with yawgmoth? I've ran into it a couple of times with my build and I'm not sure how to counteract it.

Daedalus19876 says... #20
GoldenGolgari: I haven't had that problem in any games, no. Can you give more detail on what happened in those games?

Further testing:
Removed all duplicated basics for Snow-Covered Forest, Snow-Covered Swamp, Darkbore Pathway Flip, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Gemstone Caverns
Removed Lotus Petal and Fynn, the Fangbearer for Culling the Weak and Tainted Pact.
October 8, 2021 10:09 a.m.
What is the point of having snow basics over regular?
October 8, 2021 2:28 p.m.
Daedalus19876 says... #23
Profet93: To have different names, so that Tainted Pact doesn't see any duplication :)
October 8, 2021 2:29 p.m.
GoldenGolgari says... #24
It might just be due to me playing badly, but sometimes I won't see yawgmoth/cutthroat or spider until I'm near the end of my deck, and by then I don't have enough cards left in deck to drain everyone of their remaining life totals.

Daedalus19876 says... #25
GoldenGolgari: With Tainted Pact specifically?
I haven't tested Pact yet, so we'll see how it works out :) That's definitely a real concern, yeah.
skeletonkey8 says... #1
Really even though for 3 mana it is the sac outlet and death trigger outlet for a big board state? like lets say when you have Generous Patron and Devoted Druid online?
also how has Sylvan Anthem thought i looked cool but didnt make the jump myself?
*ment to say love the feedback in that first post lol
