Tortured Existence is a great engine in Pauper.
The Spore Frog loop with Crypt Rats as sweeper is one of the more powerful things to do. If somewhat full and hard to finish multiple games with in a round time.
And Wild Mongrel makes for awesome Dead Dog antics that gives you an aggro with a lot going on.
So, I decided to make a toolbox style TE deck which has a transformational sideboard into an aggro deck. Or something like that. Spore Frogs lead to long game 1s, and switching to more aggro/madness plan post-board really makes their sideboards less effective.
I came up with 75 cards I want access to, and then made a sideboard plan. This does mean there's a main deck Caustic Caterpillar and a main-deck Faerie Macabre, which can actually be useful based on meta.
There's a lot of things going on. Your Communes and Wayfinders set things up and fill your yard, your dredgers keep things running.
The Carrion Feeder is to avoid exile effects, and enables playing a single Perilous Myr multiple times in a turn, which can be one of the better ways of dealing with protection. Golgari Brownscale and Gnaw to the Bone gain a lot of life.
Battlefield Scrounger lets you loop and avoid decking, making decking a very poor win condition for you -- ideally it beating down would be a faster kill. Horror of the Broken Lands cycles and makes a great finisher, as well as comboing with TE and Faerie Macabre. Gurmag Angler is a third big threat, because sometimes you just need a 5/5.
Tilling Treefolk, Vulturous Aven and the three Grave Scrabblers are the only source of actual positive card advantage -- alongside your sweeping Crypt Rats. (The former combines nicely with the cycling lands, which also set off your Horror.)
And after you have a long crushing game of sheer inevitablity, and your opponent warps their deck to deal with the odd axes of threat you pose, bring in 4 Mongrels, 3 Madness creatures, maybe a Brindle Boar, a Wickerbough Elder and a Faerie Macabre and go a bit more aggro/midrange. It's also another set of Grave Scrabbler enablers -- it's one of your best cards, but having one or two in hand with no discard outlet is the saddest.
The deck's tight for slots, but gets the important 3rd Crypt Rats in the board, alongside Raven's Crime and Chainer's Edicts.
Would like to get a Krosan Tusker in, or maybe a second Horror of the Broken Lands
