This is an all-soldier deck. I'd like to keep to that theme.
Preeminent Captain is the key soldier. I can pull every other soldier in with him without paying mana costs, so Gods Willing and
Ajani's Presence
are there to protect him. If he doesn't come out right away, it's okay. The other soldiers protect each other pretty well.
Topan Freeblade
is a great common card. I really like that it has Vigilance, so it serves as a chump blocker early on and becomes a dangerous 3/3 as the game progresses.
Kytheon's Irregulars
lets me tap as many creatures as I have mana. Sometimes I get to drop it in with Preeminent Captain instead of paying its mana cost, so that frees up my mana.
Sentinel of the Eternal Watch
is a pricey 6-drop, but I always bring it in with the Captain, again saving my mana for other things to cast.
Elite Scaleguard lets me tap for every creature that has counters on it.
Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit brings in +1/+1 counters for my soldiers, and
Consul's Lieutenant
adds a nice temporary pump. With two Lieutenants, out that's powerful stuff!
I only have 1 Kytheon, Hero of Akros
, but it'll do. It'll do.
I'm still working on the green. Managorger Hydra, I happened to have two of them, so I dropped them in and I liked it.
Decided to try to run
Servant of the Scale
.
(I am considering other green soldier cards, but I may just run with the Managorgers and add green enchantments.)
This deck can swing for 15-16 points by turn 4, and it's game by turn 5. There are a few single creatures because the deck is based on cards I own, but I tried to make them as useful as possible.
I'd like to keep improving the deck, so suggestions and help are both welcome. (I really wish I could find a way to search for the Captain and get him on the field. Oh, found a card: Evolutionary Leap.)
