You tread on dirt road, while I feast within your path. I sense fear within you, I strike. I am ruthless, barbaric some would say. You will never see me strike, when you do, you are already within my trap and it's far too late. You may defeat me, but the odds are not exactly in your favor. I am unexpected, as well as my pack that follows my every step. Be cautious, or face the consequences. This isn't your typical battle to the death, its a battle approaching from uncertain yet tactical positions. Welcome to the land of Wurmz!
Okay guys after the cheesy intro the basic idea of the deck as a whole and the main win-con within it is wurms. Basically we abuse Trostani, Selesnya's Voice to populate our lovely wurm tokens provided by
Advent of the Wurm
gaining 5 life per turn and gaining a force to be reckoned with.
The main thing I made this deck for was to get around mono-red decks as well as Rakdos decks, which in my experience toss out very weak creatures and really lose the force within them once you get a big creature out. The great thing about this is our wurms have trample.. so they are forced to block and take damage, its a win-win situation. That being said, we can also survive early game damage since our good buddy Trostani is there to gain us some health back and get into the game!
Don't think we forgot about protection from board wipes because we sure didn't. Rootborn Defenses PERFECT for this deck, we get protection from boardwipes for 3 CMC, Yes please, OH! We also get to populate? Count me in!
As you can tell this deck is highly based around tokens, but gains protection from Ratchet Bomb as well as Supreme Verdict ect. ect. I typically stray away from tokens, but 5/5 tokens with trample. That's scary!
For the plainswalker I chose
Ajani, Caller of the Pride
the reason is obvious, we have life gain within the deck, a significant amount actually when you factor in Unflinching Courage add that on a Smiter and it becomes a force to be reckoned with. With all the life might as well put it to use with Ajani and his big bomb. He also just provides great stopping power by making our creatures bigger threats as the game progresses
For our Selesnya deck it only makes sense to run Selesnya Charm. It is just such an amazing card overall, it kills big creatures that are bigger than ours as well as just making a weenie to go in for extra damage or soak an attack. Or it can simply pump up a creature to go in for the win, overall a well rounded card.
That's basically the deck in a nutshell, keep in mind this is a remake of my previous run with Selesnya with a more budget friendly card list.
Thanks for checking out my deck and feel free to comment below with tips or suggestions to improve the overall build. All comments and suggestions are highly appreciated and encouraged. A +1 is always welcome but only if you enjoy the deck as a whole! Have fun!
