Treasure Cruise EDH Commander Format

Casual

Commander DLC format

-I saw a TikTok about a format of commander called Treasure Cruise. Same setup as normal commander except there is a pile set to the side called the Treasure Trove where players can spend mana on a curve of X+1, where X is the amount of times you've dug for treasure. Players can only dig at the trove once per turn.

-Next, upon paying for the cost, the player must roll a d6. A roll of 1-5 determines how many cards the player reveals the trove until they reach the final number, then the player would cast the card (Example: I roll a 4 so I would reveal 3 then cast the 4th card). However if a player would roll a 6 instead, they would reveal the top 3 cards of the trove and pick one to cast, putting the other two on the bottom of the trove. A player who rolls a 1 shuffles the trove, then casts the first revealed spell after shuffling. Someone else must cut the deck before the cast can happen. Players can react to the card being cast from the treasure trove with cards at instant/flash speed.

-The Treasure Trove consists of 3 genres of cards you can pull; semi-good artifacts/enchantments, wonderfully good artifact/enchantments, and horrendous aura curses, enchantments, and artifacts that hurt you. After the cost is paid for the treasure trove, you cast the card on your battlefield whether you like it or not. If said card is a curse, that card must be applied to yourself.

-Players cannot force the trove to mill. Players cannot pay the cost for other players to draw. If cards from the trove were to leave the battlefield and enter the graveyard, they would instead return to the exiled pile of the Treasure Trove, not the player who was in control of the card at the time. Cards in the exiled pile of the Treasure Trove cannot be targeted or move to any other zones.

-Legendary rule does NOT apply for the cards being cast from the Treasure Trove.

-Curses cast from player must be applied to the caster, regardless of spells such as deflecting swat or things that change targets. However once on the battlefield, players may move the permanent elsewhere. (Removal, Zedruu, skyswallower, etc) -Instead of the revealed cards from the trove entering its own exile pile, instead they are put back into the trove at the bottom. Instead of rolling a 1 on the d6 doing nothing special, it now forces the player to shuffle the deck, then cast the next one on top. Another player who didn’t roll the 1 must cut the deck.
