if its a sorcery spell in a control deck, it better either win you the game or setup the win-con in some way(or draw you 10 000 000 cards) Totally agree that on paper Sword point diplomacy looks amazing, but thought the gains are large at the mannacost, you are putting the ball in the opponents court. they choose what your spell does, which is never good.

Dakotakillian88 So new list is up and this is gonna be my new revision for tonight for FNM. Gonna test out Grixis tonight and if it doesn't do well I will likely revert it back to the Grixis build it started as

This deck is having a really hard time vs merfolk. The counters arent fast enough and the treasure production isnt fast enough either. U need time to build up a mana base to play the more expensive stuff. The other version will probs Work better

Have you ever thought of Mechanized Production?

January 21, 2018 11:35 a.m.

w33m4n says... #7

was originally in the build Mage_Mystic_ but removed it cause it just was kinda slow and never ended up winning me games really. Torment of Hailfire did however many times so I ended up going that route

I want to build this, but cutting red. Any suggestions?

Also, thoughts on the strategy to beat tokens decks?

If you look at the original version in the changelog or have been following deck original was just black blue. Pirates pillage becomes glimmer and red becomes more counter or removal

As far as a tokens structure it's all just spells to counter. If you stop what makes the tokens and it's support they have little to stand on. Pull some removal and stack on counters for old school cruel control

No revel in riches?

March 2, 2018 10:33 a.m.

w33m4n says... #13

yeah no Revel in Riches. For it's mana cost there are better things I can run and being dependent on killing creatures on opponent's side of the field is kinda pointless when most get countered and therefore doesn't die. Id rather have Angrath Planeswalker or Contract Killing or The Scarab God(which IS in there) as it provides way more means of overtaking a game.

plus ten treasures is just too much to win. better using Mechanized Production at that point.

March 2, 2018 10:44 a.m.

xhuggels says... #15

there are ways to get treasures fast enough for Revel in Riches to work, but Mechanized Production is just a straight up better card in every sense of the word, and those ways of getting treasures fast enough to make it viable aren't in this deck.

Supreme Will seems better than Glimmer of Genius here. I like the deck +1

Why are you playing Captain Lannery Storm? I may have missed that somewhere in these archives, but it seems to me that as a control player you would prefer to have a more defensive treasure production, for example another copy each of Gleaming Barrier and Sailor of Means, maybe even another Hornswoggle or the like.

because shes an early threat to A) act as a distraction. It's ok if it gets killed because thats one less piece of removal to worry about later with Marionette Master or The Scarab God. B) A treasure a turn makes the clock run fast. Also lets me makes sure I always have treasures and extra mana in the early mid game if they don't answer it which sets up nicely for my late game. C) Late game she can be game ending for me with that treasure firebreathing swinging in all hasty like. Let alone if I hit a Marionette or Torment of Hailfire from her building treasures or swinging in the lethal if they managed to survive a large scale torment. ( I avg. X=7)

Yes this is a control deck but not entirely like you would think. It has the ability to strike from a few directions all around the same principle of treasure to either ramp and sustain or end the game in general. I try to keep this deck rather adaptable.

I'm sorry if i'm just blind, but whats the point of The Scarab God and Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp?

Also, I'm trying to make a treasure deck. Would you mind looking at it?

May 14, 2018 10:43 p.m.

w33m4n says... #22

Pample1 yeah i'll take a look at it.

The Scarab God serves as a late game bring things back attrition piece.

Zahid, Djinn of the Lamp serves well to come out usually on turn 4 to 6 as a 4 drop due to treasure being out to help with the casting cost or even Gleaming Barrier or Treasure Map
