Chasmolinker if only it wasn't mostly rotating out all the important stuff

I hear that. I stopped playing my GB Constrictor deck because of this. Hard at work on the next rotation.

You've still got a decent core here. Hopefully GRN will have a suitable replacement Win-Con.

Maybe. Like I could make this work but it just wouldn't be as potent as that turn 6 marionette for game I've come to love

Revel just takes too long antiquities war would be ok but first 2 triggers are kinda pointless. Was already considering ravager bolas. Cancel is just obvious

Hey! Love the idea of the deck, Nicol Bolas is my boy, I have been trying to run a pretty budget version in the new MTGA. Do you think its viable to be able to skip out on most of the duel lands and a few of the bigger bombs? Or is this just one of those decks that has a rough time when budgeted.

NMe666 it is a bit rough to budget but manageable depending on what you wanna pull. Some of the Big threats could easily be switched for other options in similar color sets or the base color set of black and blue.

Seems like a really sweet list for a treasure deck, and is really interesting, with synergy everywhere, but how well is the deck against golgari steel leaf stompy? It seems like a rough matchups, Nullhide Ferox's against your Nicol Bolas, the Ravager  Flip and Assassin's Trophy for the big threats you drop against them early on, along with just constant pressure. Countermagic is okay game one, and you can sideboard Vraska's Contempt for game 2, but the dekc seems to still be rough all the way through, especially with Carnage Tyrants from their sideboard.

with the assumption that nullhide makes it in and doesn't get countered, it is still very killable. Most of my counters are creature base ones since meta is super creature heavy. Most times in this deck creatures are not coming out till AT LEAST turn 6 (exception being zahid cause why not). Idea being could I get em out earlier yes. But this deck works on old school principle of serious control elements. The treasures add as a ramp to either A) help keep early-mid field clear and ineffective or B) treasures build to have the spare mana for big costs with counters to come after and help maintain the field dominance. Ample draw to help fill in. Usually with some additional benefit (filtering out cards, making treasures).

Spell swindle against carnage tyrant can end the game in the right moment. while he will still hit the field. I do still get the 6 treasures. Plus I have at least the 5 lands needed to play swindle. Depending on how late game it is I have 11 mana to dump into a Bane fire. Which is almost impossible to stop and either game ending or serious pressure move ( once upon a time of Marionette Master this was game ending the following turn almost guaranteed.) But yes otherwise can he be an issue yes. I've played with larger boardwipe ideas like maybe Phyrexian Scriptures

If Nicol hits the field main objective. Keep.. Him....Around.(obvious lock down of games reason) so in some cases can he come out turn 4? Yes. If you feel like he could safely occur early game and be protected. Otherwise late game with answers close on his tail cause once he flips the game tends to swing SSSUUUUPPPEEERRR heavy in my favor.

Everything else is up for debate. Right now im testing with various dragons etc. Originally v3 build had 2 of everything. now I introduced demanding dragon and windreader to see how they feel in there cause obvious card draw from windreader could be cool as well as the burn/removal from demanding dragon.

Assasins trophy is assasins trophy. Gotta play them counters and just hope for the best. Counter magic sometimes just can't avoid certain things. It's a damn good card. Only downside is if they use it too much that land advantage plays big to me being control. Lands on field usually equals answers for everything.

Oh, I mean like if they discard Nullhide Ferox to your Nicol Bolas discard trigger, they choose so they can get a free 6/6 semi-hexproofer.

Scriptures sounds sweet, not too costly either, you on paper or online?

Paper and once hes out hes killable so im fine with that especially if i can flip bolas for that 10 damage after not hexproofing him. Also with all the hexproof type stuff out now I wanna run more detection towers

At which point does treasure production control turn into just control? I loved this idea pre-rotation, but now it just seems like you are ramping control, whcoh honestly control really has never needed. As much as i love treasures(sadly had to say goodbye to my treasure build due to Anointed Procession cycling out) dont you think grixis control, the one that runs the same spells -treasures +more efficient spells isnt just straight up better? Treasures arent part of your win-con anymore sonce Marionette Master and Mechanized Production cycled out too, so why keep them? I guess my question is, since i know you to be a really solid deck-builder, do you think treasures as a theme is still viable in...well any deck, im not just questioning yours?

Just a means of keeping it mildly relevant. And it is viable and manipulatable. Put karn in here and its a doozy with all the artifacts

With you mentioning Karn, is there a reason you don't run him in the deck? Or just no point with the main goal being Mr Nicol Bolas.

As well, any thoughts on a Dream Eater or two being run, perhaps replacing the WindReader or a Djinn?

NMe666 No karn because budget reasons but yet fantastic in here. Ive thought of dream eater but i dont like the 4/3 body. Like my guys having a slightly better chance of sticking to the field. Though yes if you were to build it very much substitute able
