I'm skeptical about uncle Tez's badtouch. I like it as a sideboard option against some aggro deck, but feel like any deck not on burn will just 2 for 1 you.

Intriguing deck! Your thoughts on Revolutionary Rebuff over Metallic Rebuke? What about some number of Revel in Riches in the sb as insurance? Too cute?

As far as Metallic Rebuke I feel that there isnt too much artifact use in standard it fits the 2 drop range and counters solidly when used properly. Improvise to me doesn't show a huge amount of usefulness in that sense I'd rather just pay 2 consistently than gamble on having tokens. My 3 drop counters will just counter with no condition.IE Disallow and Cancel if needed.

Also no revel cause getting 10 counters takes tooo long 8 is better insurance and only need 5 to win with marionette

Hostage Taker would be ideal in this kind of deck, though I'd wait for the price to drop a bit.

jubale I thought about it but my 4 range is already pretty well occupied with draw spells or otherwise the slot for Mechanized Production or Vraska's Contempt which is the sideboard slot for 4 drop. Ideally most creatures in the deck don't come out till turn 5 or 6 while the rest of the deck just counters the field as clean as possible.

I'm trying to keep the deck as creature minimum as possible being that most decks in standard now have a lot of removal which will almost all be dead pull against this deck. Leaving whatever is valuable to be countered.

So initial tests are showing the deck to be very potent. Played B/W tokens and it wasnt even a contest. First set 2-0 second set 2-1 only due to poor draw for land. R/G pummeler also doesn't stand a chance 2-0 both sets. If anyone else has built the deck and has been playing it let me know what holes you guys have found or any sideboard adjustments that were needed to be made.

As a note current testing was done short Herald of Anguish and Mechanized Production. Still waiting on them to show up. Negate and Prosperous Pirates were used in place

I'm going to be utilizing a similar list at FNM this week (obviously playing to my soft spot for Marionette Master). I think Sorcerous Spyglass deserves a place here as the shenaniganery with Mechanized Production seems too funny to pass up.

Hah... You raise a valid point. Its just as funny as Mechanized Production on a Noxious Gearhulk which was the original funny backup to Mechanized Production. If only abrade wasn't a thing.

Abrade Hurts my soul, but it's the reason I'm not running Mech Pro.

(Snall suggestion) Cut marionette masters unless that's supposed to be the actual wincon over winning by controlling tokens. Replace with tutors to get your mechanized/revel out?

Rex_JB24 says... #15

pantsbot Marionette Master doubles as an alternate wincon in this list. A resolved Master with 5 treasures on board is 20 damage. It's important to diversify threats so that the deck isn't dumped on by artifact removal (enchantment removal not even needed to stop Mech pro).

pantsbot, Marionette Master is the main win condition because technically as long as I have 5 Treasure tokens to sack with her out that's 20 Damage. And getting her out is never really an issue as far as being a 6 drop and then Mechanized Production as a backup win condition. If anything were to be pulled it would be the Herald of Anguish, but he comes out so easily and its a solid 5/5 flyer to help whittle down end game life total so when Marionette Master comes out it's that much easier to kill someone. Revel in Riches was cut out from original build because getting 10 tokens is a bit difficult as sometimes the treasures get used to sustain momentum or allow for pinch countering knowing the deck makes more tokens quite easily and will only need 5-8 tokens to win.

Ok guys so since I'm running Glimmer of Genius I've had the idea of running Confiscation Coup

Getting off one glimmer then a coup could be interesting to steal some big bodies in the top end.

Thoughts?

So I'm running a very similar build to yours. How about Padeem, Consul of Innovation to deal with Abrade as I hear a lot of people concerned with it and while I haven't tried Padeem quite yet, I think he may be worth running in the side board.

To be honest Abrade isn't really an issue. The deck produces enough tokens that losing one to an Abrade is hilarious. If it doesn't get countered. Otherwise its removing treasure map which is only other artifact and I run 4 so not really a concern to give artifacts hexproof. And his second ability i feel isnt as good as Glimmer of Genius in my 4 drop slot. Plus I'm trying to have as little creatures as possible being there is so much removal in standard right now.

I'd personally recommend Siren's Ruse to flicker your creatures for evasion and ETB effects. It even gives you card draw on Sailor of Means. It'd probably help the most if you ever decided to bring back Revel in Riches as a wincon or decided to use a creature that drops two treasure tokens on ETB.

Yeah I'm testing Herald of Anguish live but in the time I've been waiting for them to come in I've been using Prosperous Pirates and it doesh still mesh very well but I wanna see what a disruptive and evasive 5/5 can do for me as well in the Herald. Id take Depths of Desire for Siren's Ruse

Well it's official the deck is a killer. Went 3-1 tonight for FNM. Played esper GPG, U/G merfolk, jund tempo, and U/G energy. Only the jund deck beat me and only off land screw in both games with a mulligan the second game and it still went all the way to end of round on the last game for a 2-1 loss. LOVE THIS BUILD!!!!!

Glad youve enjoyed the deck. Congrats. Ive been wanting to test mine at FNM but came down with the flu. What was your MVP?

October 14, 2017 1:01 a.m.

w33m4n says... #24

geekoftheagesMarionette Master for sure. Went off 6 times tonight. Herald of Anguish is getting pulled. Likely going to use Prosperous Pirates in place or Torment of Hailfire maybe. Sideboard was perfect. Did exactly as needed. Crook of Condemnation even saw action against GPG tonight and came in clutch.

My main thing is nobody was expecting to see my type of strategy being played. Everyones happy faces quickly became serious and concentrated the whole night seeing this kind of control out with potent ways to win. Except one guy who thought it was hilarious.
