Last 2 times I played Mono red I won 2-0 and 2-1 but with under 10 life and under 5 life.(totally expected) Energy is definitely just a flatout gamble (Jund energy I played twice was 1-2 and 2-0, Temur energy I played twice was 1-2 and 2-1, Sultai energy twice was 0-2 and 2-0) and as far as token decks (vampires) played it 3 times so far and 2-0, 2-0, and 2-1 so in other words it almost never stands a chance (to be fair the one dude playing me the first time was a new player and had little to no idea what was going on). Since I started playing at a new store now for FNM me and a friend(running sultai energy homebrew with pummeler) ended up altering the Meta there as almost everyone was running creature heavy decks and a lot of variety of types of decks now everyone is just temur energy or mirror and everyone is now splashing some form of blue anticipating control type decks

wait, has there been ruling on Primal Amulet copying X spells, because i thought you could'nt copy x spells for the same value as you pay them originally.

No Revel in Riches? I know it doesn't need it. Like the other wins are consistent but I think a one of slot wouldn't be awful. And they either remove it or they lose. Just a suggestion. The deck is super sweet tho.

my only problem is the fact it costs 10 treasures. The time it would take to accumulate that would give the opponent too much a chance to win versus current condition which is 5 treasures for marionette to win and 3 if a panharmonicon was out when she dropped.

Dead2Value No, there was a ruling specific to the fact that you COULD copy lets a say a big ass Torment of Hailfire. Only issue in this deck is that turn 4 the amulet would come out and it would take 3-4 turns to transform over. Meanwhile I usually get off Hailfire for X=9 usually on turn 6 so there is really no point for me to have it but yes if you made a speedy red black deck with that in there and torment it would be absolutely brutal

Revel in Riches is a good wincon and treasure production

sg_86 to be honest it doesn't usually do me all that much good. Base version of the deck doesn't generally run much removal. And at 10 treasures it't only really a real wincon with a Panharmonicon in my case. I don't want the deck to hinge on that happening. As the deck sits without Panharmonicon it reliably can produce at least 5 treasures by turn 7 in the worst case. Combo that into a Marionette Master for big win or a really big Torment of Hailfire which I'm averaging X=9, which so far has been either crippling or game ending in most cases. I thought about it long and hard and Torment Just wins over it most cases. This past weekend I was toying around with the idea of a 1 of Gonti's Aether Heart because it somehow does work.... and I got to actually pop it off for the win against someone at FNM. I still almost feel like it was a fluke but idk. It felt too fluid. Also gave purpose to occasionally running Glimmer of Genius and gives more purpose to a late game treasure map.

I was running Revel in Riches in my deck and found I was wishing it was a Marionette Master most of the time... and that was when I was playing more removal spells such as Contract Killing and Bontu's Last Reckoning. A big problem being with using Revel in Riches as a wincon is that it is a little redundant seeing as if you have 10 treasures in play at your up keep you will most likely still capable of winning if you have a single land in play and Marionette Master in hand.

Having only 5 wincons s not great. I now see that Marionette Master is much better than Revel in Riches. I think possibly some more of them and possibly some Mechanized Productions would be great. As you are playing Torment of Hailfire, possibly some Primal Amulets would help maximise a huge amount of damage. I have seen versions of this deck using playsets of Revel in Riches, Mechanized Production, and Marionette Master. Perhaps if you were to include playsets of Marionette Master and possibly 3 or 2 Torment of Hailfire and Mechanized Production. With a larger possibility of drawing one of the wincons, I think there will be an improvement.
As for what you should take out, some of the counter spells possibly? I think Spell Swindle is quite hefty at 5 CMC. Baral, Chief of Compliance is not great in this deck as the aim should be to load a Marionette Master or Torment of Hailfire not to counter a bunch of stuff.

sg_86 Mechanized used to be in here and was replaced with Panharmonicon as he is more useful in the treasure production department. Mechanized Production is just too easy to get rid of and otherwise moves too slow in producing treasures. and Baral, Chief of Compliance very much serves his purpose of making my spells cheaper earlier while causing filter. He was chosen over primal amulet being he can come out much sooner allowing me to keep the field relatively clear while playing what I need to in order to get treasures made. As far as Spell Swindle that card will never be removed from this deck. You are right its a five drop which is just fine because when it counters something its usually game ending or otherwise is getting me at bare minimum 3 treasures is the smallest cost item I use on it. It also usually proves fatal when someone turn 5 on curve plays a 5 drop and then all of a sudden I have treasures which is what I need to win the next turn with Marionette Master on turn 6 which so far out of my 14 wins 4 have happened because of just that turn 5 counter for treasures turn 6 marionette for win. As the deck sits nothing is going to change in it really. I have been testing everything people recommended and this is where I have ended up. primal amulet comes out way too late to even matter and the deck on its own wins on average turn 8. If anything speeds it up that number only goes lower cause the deck is quite capable on winning on turn 6. And having 5 wincons has worked out just fine as I can always throw in Herald of Anguish and The Scarab God If I need some extra beat down to happen.

Plus as is the deck does so much scrying and drawing I never have issues getting anything that I need. Only times I lose is when I manage to somehow get land screwed. Right now as per DCI running this deck right now has me at a 77.45% gross win percentage. Let that sink in. If I play someone with this deck at my local there is a 77.45% chance I'm going to win. And that has been going up against Temur energy, Sultai energy, Normal U/B control, and Ramunap. which is my hardest match up and is really just a 50/50 of who is gonna win once sideboarded.

Supreme Will Fetch/Counter
Siren's Ruse Blink/Protection/Draw
Treasure Map Scry/Draw
Opt Scry and draw
Baral, Chief of ComplianceFilter during counter
And shits and gigs I can still run Glimmer of Genius IF I really need to.

I overlooked the make the spells cheaper on Baral, Chief of Compliance. The part of Primal Amulet that is good is the flip, Primal Wellspring Flip. Copy a huge Torment of Hailfire for a lot of damage to say the least.
November 17, 2017 12:58 p.m.
sg_86 very true but by the time that is happening in this deck the game should already be over. Mainly cause torment is secondary win con
November 17, 2017 9:27 p.m.
sg_86 Also have you seen the leaked flip enchantment for treasures that is coming? Should be great to fit in to either one of our versions of doing this
November 20, 2017 9:52 a.m.
But you would have to splash red in. Perhaps Trove of Temptation when that time comes?
November 20, 2017 12:52 p.m.
I could splash red which would be easy or rely on the treasure tokens for the red. I'm also thinking that card in a / thopter(or treasure) deck into The Locust God with Pull from Tomorrow

Great deck, I think I'm going to try it out.
Side question, how do you require the upvote to add to folder?

I've been back and forth with Battle at the Bridge my only reservation with it is sorcery speed. I like to play most of my spells on opponents turn and my only sorcery is Torment of Hailfire which normally if I'm playing it the game is ending where as battle of the bridge would keep the game going, and yes you are very right against energy and mono red it's pretty much a gamble as to who is gonna win. (more so who gets better draws and starting hand) Which I am totally fine with considering this is a deck that is considered "sub-par" by the professional playing community. Although I will say I didn't even think of Inventors' Fair Could be a fun way to fetch treasure map or panharmonicon while gaining some life. You are honestly the first person to mention it so thank you.
