Rally the Ancestors and then add Spark Trooper because of white anyways? that sounds like fun to me. Ps: I am just jealous because I have been wanting to make an elemental tribal deck.

thanks guys!

lowercasejay- mmm... i feel like its too mana costly to be of much effect

PocoTheTurtle- you can try that, but i'm not sure how successful it'd be since Rally the Ancestors costs 2 white. at least i could use Cavern of Souls for Spark Trooper. and yeah, i have a thing for tribes :D

You don't have many lands. Smokebraider and Generator Servant might help with that.

Since converting to the Green/ Red Variant I win more often and am less susceptible to First Strike Blockers. Using Red for search, obviously still relying on Soulstoke.Liege of the Tangle or Tyrant of Discourd on Turn 4 are extremely difficult to overcome. As long as you have either Soulstoke, Smokebraider, or Harbinger in your starting hand you can fire off pretty quick. Twinflame is an absolutely insane addition. On top of extra aggro it can copy a Soulstoke in case they get Arrested or tapped down.Turn 4 Tyrant twinflamed is minimum 2 land gone and a possible boardwipe.

Ever think of Omnath, Locus of Rage? I've tested it as a one of and its worked well so far. I take out a hellspark and use Incandescent Soulstoke to get it in, the landfall nets you elementals to bash their skull in, and each elemental death causing a bolt is quite the play.

Hi, how about:

  • Smokebraider, i didn't see it in the other comments and it would get your other elementals out much faster

I had desired to make my own tribal deck before seeing this and I am going to. I made an ok version for MGO and it went better. Now I have even more ideas. Like touching black/red cards Fulminator Mage Ashenmoor Liege Sootstoke Kindler.
Also Primal Beyond is a way way cheaper land for this deck and still does the small thing.

Ogreman1- then i'd have to sacrifice omnath and not get much out of it

ironcore- it isn't necessary and only slows the deck down

helve0- added Primal Beyond but the black/red cards you mentioned are kinda slow though Fulminator Mage may be worth sideboarding

If you're playing elementals that are going to be sacrificed anyway, then I really recommend running 4x Crack the Earth. Play an elemental and then sac it to this = destroy effect for 1r.

I don't think Flamekin Harbinger is very good in this deck; the synergy between your creatures just isn't high enough to make the tutor ability offset the fact that a 1/1 just doesn't really contribute anything to the strategy. I would suggest replacing it with either Lightning Serpent, which, while not having a fantastic mana to power ratio, has the advantage of fitting anywhere in the mana curve, or Searing Blood, which I've found to be pretty great for the strategy because it can allow an Elemental to do an extra 2 trample damage through a blocker in addition to the 3 points of burn.

but it tutors for Nova Chaser...

Lame_Duck says... #15

Well, I guess I don't think Nova Chaser is that great either. Sure, it's powerful but it's unbelievably fragile and the Champion ability combined with the relatively low number of Elementals that stay on the board make it hard to cast and leave you vulnerable to being 2-for-1-ed by instant speed removal.

helve0 says... #16

Cast Nova Chaser with Incandescent Soulstoke makes it 11 damage same turn. I think its ok to have anyone have to use removal on Nova Chaser. Also when Nova Chaser enters the battlefield "champion" the Flamekin Harbinger when Nova Chaser dies Flamekin Harbinger enters the battlefield again, tutor again.

Lame_Duck, i get your point. and i agree, if you want to make this deck more competitive, then the combo is too fragile, but if you want to be competitive, then you're probably not going to be building this deck. I think for the theme's sake, this is good enough, yeah?

Sure, if you enjoy using the cards, then go for it.

I have a deck close to this, not to far off what i have on this website. Its fun to play, people don't see it coming. The only thing that hurts my deck is control. but they are just barley holding me off in the first place. decks like this can do 11 damage on turn 3 and 4, it shock people. they think tribal ha what a joke.

also there is a format "tribal legacy" but that format is legacy and is rare to play. keeping a deck like this in modern allows you to play it more.

more or less decks like this are fun to play, cheap, and while not top tier it is by far not low tier.

No suggestions, just praise! I stumbled across this deck just browsing the site ... totally wicked bro! ... I might have to borrow some of your ideas here!

hey, sorry it's been months. Harbinger is basically required, it's as good as a soulstoke in your starting hand as you can tutour for combo components.

Basically I stripped out all of my Ball Lightning and similar shock creatures. I put in the biggies and combo into them. I am telling you, playtest this deck without the quick 6/1's and with Tyrant of Discord and Liege of the Tangle. Make sure you put in 4 fling and 4 Twinflame. It relies more heavily on combo but the payback in sheer overwhelming force is insane.

ex. Turn 1: land and 'harbinger' for either soulstoke or Liege (depending on what your hand is missing)Turn 2: Land (Smokebraider would be nice, not necessarily needed)Turn 3: Land, soulstoke.Turn 4: Ideally another land, 2 mana to use soulstoke for liege, swing for 9 trample. All four of your lands are lands are now 9/9s thanks to soulstoke's buff. 2 Extra mana floating you can twinflame to double the attack or fling the liege after the attack for an additional 9 damage.

alternative: No Liege? Tyrant of Discord, now your opponent is losing cards until they hit a land. With that potential extra 2 mana twinflame that and they are losing minimum 2 land and maybe their board or at least some early cards.

No Tyrant? Doomgape instead, 11/11 trample thanks to the buff, fling or twinflame for 22 potential aggro damage turn 4. hard to come back from that.

Red/Green buffs this deck, and first strike doesn't stop you dead. A ball lighting against a 1/1 first strike loses. Good luck first striking a Liege of the Tangle. Your only real weakness here is control, which cripples elementals either way, but they have to be pretty quick to stop you; or getting mana screwed. Running 4 harbingers and 4 soulstokes ups your chances of hitting what you need. Like I said, things like Phytotitans make decent additions as they don't stay down after the sacrifice to Soulstoke's ability. So big hitter for 2 that comes back.

Anyways, Love the concept. Keep up the good work.

If you run into creature bases that can actually stymie your agro, try Sunflare Shaman. In the odd case that the game runs long and your yard gets fat, he's a great alternative to swinging, especially if your opponent manages to get an Ensnaring Bridge or some sort of similar defense. Removal or finisher, he makes a useful trick; if you're of a mind to protect him from himself somehow, he can blast your foe again and again.

If I wanted to build this deck on a budget. What would I replace with Cavern of Souls and Fulminator Mage
