Except Raise the Alarm produces solar tokens, not human tokens so they won't trigger champion

Dryad Militant is a better version of Elite Vanguard , Boros Elite might also be overall better if you really want cards to interact with champion. Also unless this is actually for modern tournaments I'd suggest switching the format to casual, as it's highly unlikely the deck is consistent enough with all the expensive 6 drops and not especially strong tribal lords to have much fun against competitive modern decks.

Elite Vanguard is a human while Dryad Militant isn't and i also like the higher overall power on the vanguard.

true on the format aspect. i'll change it now

Is the Veteran Armorsmith that good? and also, consider swapping Eldrazi Monument for a simpler spell like Honor of the Pure

How do i buy this deck with the "6 missing from calculation " ?

@Khathai- wow. I'm thrilled that someone actually wants to buy this deck! However, I have no idea about how to buy these decks and maybe it would be appropriate to ask the question in the tapped out forum. Have fun with the deck! I do everytime I use it against my friends. Actually, all of my friends get annoyed whenever I play any of my decks... (Probably cause they're built to be annoying :p) also, +1? or did you already?

I think you can focus this deck a little further, and the outlier for me seems to be Champion of the Parish . This is the only card in your deck that cares about the "Human" type, as well as the only card that buffs itself rather than your other Soldiers. I don't know how much value you get out of Champion of the Parish , and it would appear to be the biggest target for removal if it were buffed. So I think it comes down to do you want a teamwork-type deck where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, or a deck that capitalizes on both the "Soldier" and "Human" types?

For the former, since you're already utilizing Preeminent Captain , I'd echo the opinions of some of the previous comments and seriously consider running Ballyrush Banneret , over Champion of the Parish as it would help with the mana curve and allow you to potentially play 5 of your 9 Creatures sooner (6 counting another Ballyrush Banneret ). Since your deck is Creature-heavy, I'd also echo the suggestion of replacing Elite Vanguard with Dryad Militant , in order to get more spell effects out of your Creatures.

As for Darien, King of Kjeldor run him with a card like Soul Warden or Suture Priest for best results, your opponent would have to one-shot you, and it produces a lot of 1/1 Soldier tokens, which with many of your other Creatures being at least "Quasi-Soldier Lords" you'll get more bang for your buck (3/3 or better Soldier Tokens for each point of damage taken is easily doable). The one downside is that cards like Soul Warden and Suture Priest are not themselves Soldiers.

a lot of my friends play tribal decks. the ones they use most often are goblins and allies. both have a better late game than soldiers. therefore, i prefer a slightly more explosive start instead of a better late game. the champion also gets bigger allowing me to counter my friend's allies

Dryad Militant is a great alternative to Elite Vanguard and gives you a major boost in game one against control decks. As you don't have a way to recur your Brave the Elements they are all win and no lose for your side while putting a serious hurt on any decks running Snapcaster Mage or any other flashback mechanics.

this is more fore casual so no one plays snapcaster and the dryad isn't a human so it doesn't boost champion. but RIP, i have a set of dryads so i'll see when to put them in

Maybe Honor of the Pure instead of Veteran Swordsmith , better mana curve and more power for your white soldier creatures

Or Door of Destinies and choose Soldier

:)

Oh, i see why you dont use Honor of the Pure :D but anyway Door of Destinies is a nice one for the Sideboard maybe ;)

Soldier of the Pantheon or Dryad Militant over Elite Vanguard . Much better choices with added effects for same mana cost and P/T

Wow. I didn't think anyone looked at these decks any more. Thanks guys!

preiselbeer- I don't use door or destinies because it itself is not a creature and the buff it gives is negligible that late in the game.

TrumpetsforKings- I didn't use dryad militant because it was not a human but soldier of the pantheon is definitely going in. Thanks!

Adaptive Automaton might do well here as well, id drop Veteran Swordsmith for it since it gives a slightly better global effect and still receiving all the bonuses from the rest.

peru_soldi says... #21

have you thought of doing tribal in edh? you can include many more cards and make it more powerful!!

December 9, 2013 1:56 p.m.

Brave the Elements should be a 4 of, it's a game winner mid-game

December 9, 2013 2:24 p.m.

Why no Daru Warchief ? He's ridiculous!

December 9, 2013 2:34 p.m.

tempest says... #24

LegendaryRob- wow. why have i never thought of that... going in for sure! one thing, adaptive doesn't get protection with Brave the Elements . you think it's worth it?

peru_soldi- i might. but i have no experience with EDH so we'll see.

pingpongball120- i agree. what do you suggest i take out? and do you think i should play adaptive automaton? like i mentioned above, it doesn't interact with brave

optimus_prime859- its above my average curve so besides the body and the buff, he's just another soldier. he also isn't a human so it doesn't have synergy with Champion of the Parish

sorry for the late response guys. thanks for the suggestions though!

December 11, 2013 11:36 p.m.

Maybe Captain of the Watch , 6 mana is a LOT when your average drop is 2.6
