So this is me playing around with the new Planeswalker ruling for Standard.
Gideon of the Trials can be a beater, prevent damage or stop you from losing the game. Whereas Gideon, Martial Paragon helps going wide (like with tokens) or helps with Exert strategies and yes can also be a beater.
Working from there you have have of several ways to win. Either by going wide with tokens, pumping them up and beating in with them. Controlling the board and making it difficult for you opponent to cast anything, then beating face with the Gideons. Or just go all out Prison and use the tokens as fodder and let your Approach of the Second Sun resolve.
Shefet Dunes is synergistic with the tokens when you want to swing in later in the match. Played in conjunction with Scavenger Grounds it also helps against those tricksy graveyard decks playing things like God-Pharaoh's Gift, The Scarab God and some random value against
Earthshaker Khenra
and other Eternalize strats.I feel its safe playing 4 colorless lands when its a mono colored list.
Legion's Landing
and Sacred Cat is great for early game fodder and helps protect the planeswalkers early in the game.
The four drop slot is filled with the prison cards. Cast Out and Ixalan's Binding is great against the God cards, but also planeswalkers. Gideon's Intervention and Fumigate will help you stay alive and takes care of any annoying hexproof creatures (looking at you Bristling Hydra and Carnage Tyrant).
Most of you opponents single creature removal spells will be nearly useless first game, which is a bonus.
