Add another purphoros for consistency, and add black for Dark Confidant and Terminate.

Not Dark Confidant, he's too big of a target. If you're splashing black, go for a copy or two of Phyrexian Arena. Same effect, much less lifeloss, harder to remove in the meta, ??????, profit, trigger, WOOWOO.

Purphoros is just Impact Tremors number 5 (sure it's effectively better but it's not as aggressive or consistent due to mana) and I tested black splash on xmage found it to be too much cash investment for such a minute improvement

Being said I am not sure on the sideboard

I was thinking more because it is a human. You run him as a 4 of. But Phyrexian Arena could do well.

Since this obviously isn't a budget build, I'd say drop the four Norins and replace them with two copies of Chromatic Lantern (for mana fixing) and two Phyrexian Arena if you want to splash black, and if not, go a 2-3 split of Mentors and Norins

Yes true I should drop Norin the Wary from my Norin the Wary deck and lose all the reasons to build the list sorry for the sarcasm but I just wanted to make sure the point went out

Oh, and drop the Ranger of Eos. If you increase the number of Mentors to help with card draw, tutoring becomes less relevant. This deck also needs to focus less on the life gain from Soul Warden and do more direct damage or spot removal,so look into Boros Charms (great utility to protect your creatures from wipes/ugly blocks or four to the face if needed.

No need to get mad man, I'm just trying to help. :) Just my opinion of the cards, feel free to disagree.

The best plays the list has is

Turn 1 Sacred Foundry+Champion of the Parish

Turn 2: Soul Warden/Soul's Attendant+Norin the Wary swing for 3 with Champion of the Parish norin returns and the cycle goes on

Im not mad, I'm not stupid enough to get mad on the Internet, I'm just putting out the point.

April 26, 2015 4:05 a.m.

While I agree that's a solid play, there has to be a card that's better main board than Warden to do some damage to the face. Maybe Goblin Guide to help with effective t1 drops? I dunno, just throwing a card out. Rabblemaster is also coming down in price, has value beyond value on a build like this, and free 1/1 hastes each turn.

April 26, 2015 4:09 a.m.

Last comment before I hit the hay, sorry for the spam. If you do go the guide/rabble route, drop the land count one or two (or whatever else you're comfortable with dropping) and throw in Goblin Grenade For a quick gg with an Impact Tremors, Rabblemaster some burn and some good swings for 3-4 damage. Good luck with the deck, man.:)

Neither of them are good for this list as they're not oomans and don't trigger champion, 4-8 soul sisters in the list just means you're gonna survive long and short games coz you'll be gaining life non stop

Haha I was totally looking at norin yesterday thinking hed make a great deck style
And I like where you took the deck!! I didnt even think of Genesis Chamber, that could make some sweet play! The trifecta of lifegain straight damage and tokens could add some heavy power

as far as sideboarding, youll definitely have to look out for sweepers, siege rhinos (or annoying flyers) and tricky twin plays. The wear//tear will be invaluable, and you should add a few more. Since you have so much lifegain, Spear of Heliod could be a good board, you could threaten to just soak up an attack from a fatty with no blocks, then kill it, and itll buff your creatures! Unfortunately it doesnt help purphoros devotion though, and I guess Path to Exile would work too
As far as protecting your guys against sweepers... Ajani's Presence? Im not really sure with a deck like this
Im definitely gonna playtest the shit outta this deck after work, if you like ill post my opinions! -

Also lol at the stereotypical tappedout "add in dark confidant!" comment. Though I do love Tormenting Voice and Faithless Looting in a red deck to help with card draw and mana fixing

if mentor was 1 mana less it'd be perfect card draw engine for the deck, also purphoros should never be a creature just because if that happens getting pathed is gonna hurt, the deck is actually ok vs sweepers as your engine card Norin the Wary dodges any and all removal by being cowardly and getting out Impact Tremors Purphoros, God of the Forge Genesis Chamber means he's going places doing things and generating stuff, though from what i've seen this list wins mostly from Champion of the Parish making Tarmogoyf cower in fear at how big he is by turn 4

wolfhead, the add Dark Confidant is because he does fit in human/lifegain shell. Here's a deck list for ya to check out exactly why I think this way.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Playtest

oh, and twin is slightly favorable match coz of the Soul's Attendant and Suture Priest "i make 20 Pestermite" "oh, ok... this is awkward... you lost 20 life and i gained 20 life coz i kinda got Soul's Attendant and a Suture Priest"

April 26, 2015 1:12 p.m.

wolfhead says... #18

Haha god getting those creatures to resolve against a twin opponent must feel so good
And sure a $60 card is powerful, but with this deck capitalising on flicker i dont see any card you could take out for dark confidant that wouldnt be better replaced by Restoration Angel, Village Bell-Ringer or even Mantle of Leadership

April 26, 2015 2:36 p.m.

Eh, thinking about it, I'd even throw in a few Godless Shrines and maybe a swamp or two to splash black for a single/double Athreos against wipes, removal, and forcing your opponent to make an awful choice is always nice too.

i won a game not 20 minutes ago where i got on the board 2 Soul's Attendant a Suture Priest a Champion of the Parish and a Norin the Wary they wiped norin hid i had 0 cards in hand i won by top decking Purphoros, God of the Forge Genesis Chamber Impact Tremors twice

One of Assemble the Legion? I think it'd be fun, more than anything else... and ramping field blocks and damage for each turn would be cool too.

Ideally you'll never need 5 mana and getting that much is unreliable

Cavern of Souls is a solid pick for the mostly human build. It helps your champ get out there along with making sure you get your Ranger of Eos

true but i sold my caverns for the parts of the deck i didn't have (the non land stuff)

Running Suture Priest/Genesis Chamber combo is great but maybe go down to a 2/2 split and add in Ajani's Pridemate? It's a classic Soul Sisters card and I've seen Norin Sisters decks go off and gain a lot of life. You're already growing a beater with Champion of the Parish but I think the redundancy of Ajani's Pridemate would give you more alternate win-cons. It just seems like a missed opportunity given all the life you'll be gaining off Soul Warden, Suture Priest and Lightning Helix. Also, going up another Ranger of Eos or putting more in the sideboard might help against grindier match-ups that have a lot of targeted removal against your creatures.

Great sideboard choices, and I never thought to run Lightning Helix!
