I didn't think it was, but wanted to bring it up just in case. Btw it is a nice deck. +1, and yes I did +1 it. Lol

Thanks for the suggestion and the +1, Jermanatord12.

It's always good to know of other cards I could use if I want to keep playing this with friends, after it rotates out of Standard.

I totally stole your deck and have been using it on MTGO, having a blast playing casually and wrecking. +1

YAY for stealing decks.

It was put together with a LOT of help from Tapped.out members, so you're stealing from them! lol

I'm glad that you're having fun with it.

I played a few friendly games with this deck against friends and I found out how important it is to get out Butcher of the Horde, Drana, Liberator of Malakir, or Mardu Ascendancy. That will definitely change how I mulligan. With that said, have you ever though about draw cards like Painful Truths?

But man, Mardu Ascendancy really goes off in this deck and is made even more powerful with Butcher of the Horde and Drana, Liberator of Malakir.

Do you have any answer for Virulent Plague? (Even though it's going out of standard soon)

January 11, 2016 3:52 p.m.

Argy says... #6

FierceTierce I usually Mulligan until I have Expedition Envoy or Kor Bladewhirl in hand, and the right lands to play them. I will start without them and with Zulaport Cutthroat, if it's my first or second Mulligan.

There's no card draw for two reasons:

  1. This deck shuts down the Opposition so fast that you shouldn't really need card draw.

  2. The deck is perfectly balanced, so you can't really remove anything from it.

If you feel you MUST stick Painful Truths in you'd have to take out some Valorous Stance and / or Crater's Claws.

An answer for Virulent Plague is in the Sideboard and it is Utter End.

I'm glad you're enjoying the deck. Thankfully it will be playable in Standard for this next Expansion.

I thought Khans will be out of standard when gatewatch comes out, or is it still in because gatewatch is expansion?

January 11, 2016 9:50 p.m.

Argy says... #8

When Oath of the Gatewatch becomes legal in Standard early next year, nothing will rotate out of Standard, since Oath of the Gatewatch is still a part of Battle for Zendikar block.

However, in April, when the first set of the next block (Shadows Over Innistrad) becomes legal in Standard, two sets will rotate out: Khans of Tarkir and Fate Reforged.

The last set of Khans block (Dragons of Tarkir), along with Magic Origins, will remain Standard-legal until next fall, when the first set of the next block will be released.

Argeaux, thanks for the help on that! I was just wondering if you thought that could help, I'll keep your suggested decklist.

The deck is definitely fun to play and really strong too!

Nice deck! i'm trying to build an Ally deck aswell, can't decide if I go for Orzhov or Mardu allies. Right now i'm sticking with Orzhov, but I might test this deck, with your permission of course..i really do like the Mardu version, but mine wasn't working very well. In fact, even my orzhov wasn't working..so, yeah..kinda stucked.

Anyway, upvoted!

RoyaleWithCheese I dig the Pulp Fiction reference. I actually had a Royale With Cheese while in Paris.

I tried to do a BW Ally build and it just didn't work. That's because some of the best Allies are red, namely Chasm Guide and Firemantle Mage.

Once I went Mardu some other key pieces fell into place.

We have a new lot of Allies now and, unlike last block, they can deal decent damage on the Oppoent's turn. I haven't played around with them yet but I bet you could do a BW build with them.

Test the crap out of this deck. That's what it's here for.

January 14, 2016 2:36 p.m.

Oh man, having a Royale With Cheese is my life goal! And thank you for undertanding the reference. Always good to meet cinema folks. Or at least Tarantino folks.

I do like mardu because of Chasm and Firemantle. Rally + Chasm could be awesome. About that, Resolute Blademaster could be an option? I was thinking to put him. His expansive, but the Double Strike just might be worthy. And is a good target for Tormenting Voice aswell.

I was thinking about Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and Cliffhaven Vampire. More convinced about Cliffhaven, but Ayli is a good 2/3 deathtouch drop.

i'll be testing it! Thanks man!

I originally went Mardu specifically for Resolute Blademaster.

The more I played the more I realised a few things:

  • Usually you want the game to be over before he comes out. If you are still playing by that stage you will usually lose.

  • At that stage of the game you want a bomb to close it out. Although the Double Strike is nice, the 2/2 is pretty bad.

Of course everyone plays and builds differently. You might be able to get him to,work for you.

If you've eaten a Quarter Pounder with Cheese then you've actually eaten a Royale With Cheese.

BTW I may or may not be a man.

January 14, 2016 2:59 p.m.

Oh, sorry about that! i'm so used to write a 'man' after 'thanks'. Take it as a man for Mankind. Or just..well..'thanks random citizen'!

And I agree with you..you want to finish the game as fast as possible. That's what i'm struggling with my Orzhov allies. I often starts the game pretty well, but them the opponent starts to gain tons of life or getting down some heavy creatures and i'm screwed. I was thinking about Demonic Pact to help me finish the games, but them I would also have to add something to deal with him, in case it goes wrong..not sure if worth it.

This isnt standard anymore. just to let you know.

JoeyTheMindSculpter this is still Standard, just to let you know.

A lot of the cards rotate out when the NEXT set, Shadows Over Innistrad, drops.

January 20, 2016 8:06 a.m.

Khans and Fate will drop out in april.

"Man" is a masculine term. I prefer something more gender neutral. That way it feels more inclusive.

RoyaleWithCheese we should be able to come up with some big hitters for your Allies deck, now OGW has dropped. I'll swing over and take a look at it.

January 20, 2016 8:13 a.m.

I already changed several things, and some OGW cards too. And it seems more consistent now.

Yeah that Brutal Hordechief is killer.

Glad it's working better for you.

January 20, 2016 8:25 a.m.

cards rotate when game day occurs. so just keep that in mind. not when innistrad comes out. Just look it up

January 24, 2016 2:30 p.m.

Argy says... #23

You need to look it up here.

Also, check here as well.

To truly understand the joys of Mardu Ascendency, play a few Valor in Akros in the deck. I use it with my 4c Allies to good effect. That deck includes the Veteran Warleader, who also likes to see the arrival of goblin tokens. If you have any advice, check it out: Dune Pact Allies (name from the Guildpact Nephalim colors)

January 27, 2016 2:57 p.m.

Argy says... #25

CloudThumper the deck is perfect as is.

All the pieces have been refined after hundreds of games over three months.

So, thanks for the ideas, but I won't make any changes to it.
