@DaggerV however if you used a Boros Charm or some other indestructible spell on the reckoner it would be all the shenanigans. love the idea of this deck tho +1

As a Legacy deck this is probably fairly weak. Take out some older stuff and make it Modern. Just my advice. I think the concept is strong and it's fun if nothing else, but I think it will be far more viable in a Modern or Standard format.

Illusionist's Bracers is for activated abilities. Blistercoil Weird has a triggered ability, not activated.

Illusionist's Bracers triggers on the activated ability of Dual Casting , not on the triggered ability of Blistercoil Weird

What CardMinnow said. The Illusionist's Bracers are to better enable triple, and even quadruple or quintuple casting!

Here's how quintuple casting would work:Blistercoil Weird has Dual Casting and Illusionist's Bracers .You cast Lightning Bolt for one red.You tap Blistercoil Weird in response to copy Lightning Bolt , and you get a copy of that dual cast. There are now three copies of Lightning Bolt on the stack, and the Weird's untap trigger just on top of the original Bolt. The stack resolves (including the Weird's untap trigger). and you interrupt it while your original Lightning Bolt is still on the stack. You pay one red to tap him to copy the Lightning Bolt that is still on the stack. You get the Illusionist's Bracers trigger to copy the ability to copy the original Lightning Bolt .

You now have two MORE copies on the stack, meaning that you get the original Lightning Bolt , the two copies you first made with one tapping, and then the two additional copies you got when you tapped him again. That is a total of five Lightning Bolt s. For three red mana.

Sure, it takes some setting up, but it's the optimal condition. You can also use it to copy what Grim Lavamancer does if they catch the trick (if you hadn't killed them already), since the equipment can be put onto another creature if the original dies, unlike enchantments.

I think it would make a fun addition. Maybe add two more Grim Lavamancer and take out two Guttersnipe since the deck gets boosted more from copying spells than from casting them. Casting just gets the ball rolling.

@Nigrescence

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the exact text that Bracer has is that "Whenever an ability of equipped creature is activated, IF IT ISN'T A MANA ABILITY, copy that ability"

Doesn't the Dual Casting cost of (R) and then (T) make it a "mana ability"?

@xVisage I thought the same thing at first o.O but Dual Casting is an activated ability.406.1. A mana ability is either (a) an activated ability without a target that could put mana into a players mana pool when it resolves or (b) a triggered ability without a target that triggers from a mana ability and could produce additional mana. A mana ability can generate other effects at the same time it produces mana. Taken from the Comprehensive Rules. Llanowar Elves is an example of a mana ability.

What hamiam said. The point of the restriction is that you copy abilities that do stuff other than mana production, because the bracers aren't intended to super-speed mana production (and there are ways to abuse it, too, if it didn't have that restriction).

Ah I see.

The definition of "Mana Ability" is a bit ambiguous then...Didn't quite realise it literally meant abilities that generate mana. xD

Thanks for that though!

It seems my comment before got lost in a few others OP.

"Manamorphose is a must at 4x. I dropped Thunderous Wrath and altered some of the 4x to 3x."

@ ohthenoises I swapped out Thunderous Wrath for Manamorphose x4 and it runs a lot smoother : ) Which other cards did you remove?

Ohthenoises says... #24

I replaced 2x Vexing Devil . The other 2x I turned into Grim Lavamancer s because more card draw = more food for the mancers. Interesting note, if you get a triple cast of Manamorphose you get 4 extra mana and 3 cards drawn. You can then use those cards drawn to continue the cycle.

I love the Blistercoil Weird combo here. I might try to build a standard deck with this combo.
