Why's the guy on Triskaidekaphobia fleeing his house? 'cause he feared Imminent Doom !

LGS had an optional challenge requiring victory with that bloody enchantment. Feeling the grips of Innistrad's insanity claw at my mind, I decided to attain support of our lord and savior Nicol Bolas in the form of another enchantment. Lord Bolas was kind.

The Core:
- Triskaidekaphobia is the heart of the deck. It gives us another life total to win at beyond 0, though without care, we are equally vulnerable to it.
- Imminent Doom popped into mind right after acknowledging that I'd be running multiple X-spells. Also, by upping the build-around-mes to 8 cards, I'm quite likely to see one shortly into a given game.

X Spells:
- Battle at the Bridge, Burn from Within, Cut / Ribbons, Rolling Thunder, & Walking Ballista help us manipulate life totals to our advantage as well as apply towards controlling the board.
- Dark Salvation plays with only one of our toys, but the dudes do well at making up for any shortcomings.

The Rest:
- Chandra, Torch of Defiance & Ob Nixilis Reignited give us card draw, can take out critters, and provide a healthy distraction from our life total.
- Fatal Push and Collective Defiance give us a little more early game play.
- Glorybringer provides heft dings to our opponent and takes out dudes. Chunks of 4 make life totals very uncomfortable around Trisky.

The Mana Base:
- Pretty straightforward, with the helpful flourish of Geier Reach Sanitarium as a nod to the insanity being played.

It's a crazy deck, but damn is it fun.

Thanks for looking!

  • Round One 2-0 vs BR Discard
Both games went very similar against an opponent who played more discard spells than anything else.
Game One saw two Triskaidekaphobia hit the board and a Burn from Within that 'adjusted' my opponent down to 13 life.
Game Two saw on curve Trisky followed by Glorybringer, with another 13 life ending it shortly after. I was in shock at both a match ending with excessive time to spare, and that I managed plural wins in such a manner.

  • Round Two 2-0 vs Jeskai Control
Simple Game one, with quickly-killed Baral, Chief of Compliance, later an x=2 Dark Salvation with nothing to kill sliding past his countermagic. The zeds bit repeatedly, and with nothing else resolving successfully, that's what he died to.
Game Two started off rather awkward, with myself unable to draw a third land until after I'd missed three drops, and an apparent flood on his end. Trisky's got countered, but an Imminent Doom resolved. Caring less about countermagic, I whittled away at his life total (minus at least one dead Chandra, two dead Gideons, and The Locust God at least three times) until an x=4 Walking Ballista slapped on that last eight damage.

  • Round Three 1-1-1 vs GR Ramp
He was on curve Game One and I had no relevant interaction. T6 Ulamog anyone?
Game Two was a lengthy one. Killed his first ramp with Transgress the Mind, noting his lack of a third land. Naturally, he hit all his drops that game. Luck spent, Ulamog chose not to show and all I had to deal with were Chandra, Flamecaller and Hour of Promise zombies. A single Trisky and two Dooms whittled at his Jaddi Offshoot and Life Goes On boosted life total, though it came down to two Glorybringer and a Burn from Within to finish the job.
Unfortunately for Game Three, we only had three minutes to play. Welp.

  • Round Four 2-1 vs Sultai Counters
Game One saw him hitting hard, with multiple Winding Constrictor, and Nissa among other counter effects. My mana screw, not so much.>br> This was the one match of the night where both of my core build cards came out; I needed to deal with those creatures before they could build up and winning could be figured out later.
Game Two saw his turn to mana screw. Minus a Negate, nothing significant happened beyond a pair of Glorybringer on my side.
Everything according to plan in Game Three. The removal showed up for every single thing he played. Life Goes On happened again, but with late game in mind, I could've cared less. Same with Lost Legacy on Glorybringer, as it did nothing to the current board. Eventually cobbled together a win through a ragtag team of Ballista and a handful of zeds (both boosted with Chandra mana).

  • Top Four 2-1 vs Bolas Control
Always fun to pair up against a planeswalker-heavy deck. He started off mana-screwed, but with nothing but Cut / Ribbons and Scathe Zombies in hand, there wasn't much I could do until he went Chandra into Bolas.
Game Two saw Trisky resolve on second attempt, putting a little pressure on the slower deck. Chunks of life loss added up with a couple bursts of 4 here and there. It ended with a Burn from Within for 7.
Trisky came out again in game 3. Between it, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, and Walking Ballista (x=2), I'd put my opponent into a precarious position of being at 15 life. He used Bolas, hitting a useless Salvation... used Chandra for mana to cast another Bolas, this time hitting an Imminent Doom (how prophetic)... End of turn I popped him with the Ballista to leave him at 13, then enjoyed my last upkeep of the tournament.

  • Top Two Split
No way in the seven hells did I expect the deck to make it this far. Were I to play the list again (was tempted by the Game Day), I'd want a couple more productive 1-drops for Doom, some hard kills for planeswalkers, and a sideboard that wasn't tossed together in two minutes or less.
