Because it's free effects after you put him out. I ordered cards, and he's not among them, but first strike vigilance and lifelink free every turn would be pretty nice. I do agree that he's not necessary.

Where is Artful Maneuver? That card is great in a deck like this!

I guess I kinda overlooked it, but I'm really paranoid about losing my creatures so I've been stacking pretty much as much protection for them as I can. I need it to save them, and for pierce, I don't even know what I would take out to put this in.

For a time it felt like i couldnt build a deck without trying to build it around Favored Hoplite .that little guy is a beast. Pound for pound killer.

After learning my valuable lesson on spectra ward I am considering taking it out. It helps get through on multi color decks, but makes my guy more vulnerable to board wipes since I wouldn't be able to cast an indestructible spell on him to save him. If I place well next week I'll see about picking up Ajani Steadfast to swap in for it and see how that pans out.

I would recommend adding Phalanx Leader because he buff your entire field with his heroic trigger.

Have you looked at Gleam of Authority? Trigger, vigilance, opponent end step bolster and 1 mana with hero. Combos well with 2 creatures out

Phalanx leader dies too easily for a 2 drop and I normally don't have more than 2 creatures out at any given time. I took him out a long time ago when I was building the deck because he was under performing. The vigilance on gleam is pretty enticing, I'm not worried about damage, the deck gets rolling really quickly, but a block here and there might be nice.

Minor edit:Main board +2 Center Soul, -1 Feat of Resistance, -1 Ordeal of HeliodSide board -1 Valorous Stance, -1 Mortal's Ardor, +2 Dawnbringer Charioteers.
I struggled against decks with a lot of removal last friday, especially Foul-Tongue Invocation, so I want extra creatures available on sideboard to help protect my biggest guy from a sac. Recurring protection from center soul seems more useful than the up front extra counter from feat.
June 10, 2015 10:10 p.m.
I had him in, and took him out, he drastically under performs in this deck. He seemed like he would be really good, and ended up either sitting in my hand, or at best soaking up a removal spell. I try to keep the number of creatures relatively low so that I can run a ton of non creature spells, so the creatures I have in need to be able to get big and stay big, and the seeker doesn't.

I've thought about it, but the 4 drop cost of sunbond puts it out of order of when I would normally use ordeal, and past turn 2 I need to be looking at protecting my creatures and let the protection pump them.

Have you thought about Ethereal Armor? Or maybe Akroan Skyguard?

This is a solid dect but I feel that the only thing missing is the very needed Monastery Mentor it is a prowess creature that gives you more prowess creatures!

This deck is great. I do like blue though, beyond card draw you can get cards like Daxos and Medomai. This was the premise of a deck that I made. (http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/everybody-lives-daxos-everybody-lives/)

I'm totally onboard with Monastery Mentor but I can't bring myself to spend 15 dollars each on them, they'd at least double the cost of the deck and it's supposed to be budget. He would help me out immensely against abzan control, he's pretty much the perfect counter for Foul-Tongue Invocation.
I have 2 more Fabled Hero in my sideboard, the Heliod's Pilgrims are in there to tutor for my enchants if I don't draw into them and give me an extra body on the field. I run 2 Battle Mastery so I'm not down on double strike by having two heroes in my side board. The pilgrims are situationally much more useful than an extra 2 fabled heroes, if I need double strike I grab a battle mastery with it, if I need health an ordeal, or spectra ward if I need to get through.
I may actually test out Akroan Skyguard to replace 2 trailblazers.

Yeah the budget thing about Monastery Mentor makes sense.
June 25, 2015 9:19 p.m.
If I can win some store credit I'll probably use it to pick up a couple Monastery Mentors, but the store I'm currently playing at is pretty stingy with the store credit. If I go 4-1 and get 3rd place I'd get enough credit for 1 if the store has him priced at 15 bucks.

Mono white and no Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx you're brave. I'll give you that.
June 28, 2015 12:14 p.m.
I don't run enough permanents to benefit from nykthos, my devotion almost never hits 4, I play tested with it a bit and never got extra mana, like not a single time.

Just to be clear, targeting your guys with planeswalker abilities DOES NOT trigger heroic. I don't see a reason to include that particular Ajani since he'll give no lasting buff to your creature, where any targeted spell will be better in the long run.
