I should clarify about the Heath, there are some sticklers in my playgroup and they wouldn't let me play an unplayable variation of the card, the World Championship print is one of those kinds of cards you can't use in tournaments as it isn't even listed.

Moonsilver Spear would be a good idea, becuase of of the firststrike and the angle token's it can porduce.

It's really not. It's 8 mana once for one 4/4 angel each turn, and 4 more mana every time the creature that has it dies. It's really inefficient compared to my other token producers.

Behemoth Sledge? and Chromatic Lantern, Coalition Relic, and Darksteel Ingot in my opinion are juat taking up space. You could use Batterskull or Loxodon Warhammer instead?

Skyfolk says... #5

They're not taking up space. More mana is always a must when you have lots of X spells and big spells. And what's with everybody suggesting equipment for me? Why on earth would I want equipment in a token deck?

I agree, I think equipment is not very good in a token based deck unless it is kemba. What I think people are hinting at here is you could use more ways to make those big tokens you are producing have trample. The Overrun style "all your creatures gain trample" effects are incredibly intimidating with a field of small tokens, much less these monstrosities.

I have plenty of ways of getting through to attack. I have Odric, Master Tactician, Glare of Subdual, Overwhelming Stampede (which is miles better than Overrun), Akroma's Memorial and I also have flying tokens and pure numbers on my side, not to mention 2 sweepers that leave me at an advantage over my opponent. Pretty soon I may also have Garruk Wildspeaker, so yet another trample effect. So yeah, I definitely don't need to give one thing trample, and I have enough ways to get through to attack without bogging my deck down and removing utility.

Deck looks great, my only suggestion is maybe to add Intangible Virtue just to buff out your tokens more and for vigilance. I used to run a standard Trostani deck and it helped me a lot.

I used to have Virtue, but I found that more often then not I wanted utility instead. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Solid looking deck, you might want to consider adding Ajani, Caller of the Pride. His ultimate fits along the lines of this deck, as I'm sure that you'll have a lot of life, he's pretty cheap as far as planeswalkers go, and his +1 isn't awful either.

I actually took him out of my maybeboard because he's only useful to me if I have Doubling Season out. His +1 is really just blah in EDH, otherwise I'd be using him for sure.

I don't see why not adding Wilt-Leaf Liege ! (I know it's a bit pricey, but it's soooo gooood! Please don't kill me!)

Skyfolk says... #14

I don't have it because it's pointless. Most times it gives a single +1/+1 bonus and has no other effects. Tolsimir is insanely better in that it makes a token. Its uselessness in my deck coupled with the fact that's overpriced as balls is why I don't run it. I also feel I have more than enough anthem effects.

Wow, this deck looks like a lot of fun! Definitley +1 and I'll be on the lookout for any changes you make.

Hey thanks a lot! I try to keep the deck changing slightly bits at a time, and when Dragon's Maze comes out I might have a pretty decent update.

A fun combo I like for token edh is Isochron Scepter and Druid's Deliverance. Keeps negating damage, and populates. Best to use during your opponent's turn, works really well with Seedborn Muse.

Skyfolk says... #18

Why do that convoluted combo when I have Mimic Vat? I'm not gonna run Scepter for one thing. Vat might not negate damage, but Deliverance isn't that great of a card.

Considering Enlightened Tutor if I can snag myself a copy, don't know what to cut though.

I noticed you're not running Kodama's Reach which is a lot better than the keyrune.

How has dolmen gate been for you? I wouldn't expect it to do very much.

I would seriously consider Rootborn Defenses here, because wrath effects are typically so common in EDH and this deck just HATES getting wrathed. The fact that it populates is totally beside the point. People never expect decks without blue to have responses to their wraths and you can really steal games that way. I myself lost a game last week because my damnation was going to completely blow out a mayael deck, but he responded with boros charm and I was just dead. That was also the first time I have ever seen a mayael deck win a game in the hundreds of edh games I have played, which I think attests to how critical having a response to a wrath is for creature decks.

I already have a thing that lets me avoid wraths.

Dolmen Gate has done a lot for me, it lets me attack in every turn without fear of my guys dying.

As for Keyrune over Reach, Keyrune is instant gratification and it turns into a creature in a pinch. I also don't feel like ordering a single card, kind of a waste of shipping cost.

Redundancy on wrath protection definitely will not hurt. Plus unexpected wrath protection is a real blowout. With escort on the board wraths will not get played, or they'll kill him first. With rootborn they'll cast it and everybody else's creatures will die. A lot of controlling decks really lean on wraths to take the pressure off from creatures, so unexpected wrath protection will often just make them lose.

On the idea of redundancy, Green Sun's Zenith is a really good card. More copies or rhys or dauntless or oracle... seems pretty nice.

Your meta must have a lot of creature decks for dolmen gate to have value. In most EDH games I play, creatures blocking hardly ever matters.

No local game store?

April 3, 2013 12:34 p.m.

Skyfolk says... #23

The local game store tends not to sell uncommons and commons, let alone ones from 2004. I've thought about GSZ before and it's always a possibility, and maybe I'll add Rootborn Defences back in if I can find something to cut.

And it's not so much that it's a creature-based meta, but Gate helps me push through with creatures I wouldn't normally attack with, and that's proven to be useful almost all the time.

Consider Master of the Wild Hunt ? It might be a bit expensive, though.

Skyfolk says... #25

I used to play it, took it out for Growing Ranks, because it's way cheaper.
