I would also run a Field of Souls , a Cathars' Crusade and a Coat of Arms . They can produce insane amounts of damage. I run them to my Teysa Token Deck and they really help. +1
May 26, 2013 7:22 a.m.
Field of Souls kinda sucks because I run less than 25 creatures. If I played more creature spells I would use it.
I already have Cathars' Crusade in the deck.
Coat of Arms benefits tribal decks more than me, why would I play something that makes my opponents stronger?
Thanks for the suggestions, but do remember that each token deck is different per Commander, and things you play in Teysa might actually be useless in Trostani.

I know it's kind of expensive right now, but you might want to add Voice of Resurgence
May 26, 2013 8:52 p.m.
Yeah, there's no way I'm running a $40 card that does almost nothing in a singleton format. It's good in Standard, mediocre in EDH.
May 26, 2013 9:09 p.m.
Maybe when it drops in a year and 3 months, sure. But $40 is way too much for a card. (I bought judge foil Doubling Season with store credit at $25)
May 26, 2013 9:12 p.m.
Maybe a True Conviction . It isn't that great but it can make tokens into pretty large threats and makes blocking a pain for your opponent.
May 27, 2013 1:46 p.m.
I had it in a long time ago, and if I decide to add a life-gain suite, then I'll use it again for sure.
May 27, 2013 4:19 p.m.
Well. I pulled a Voice of Resurgence today. I guess I don't have an excuse not to use it now.

I agree with True Conviction .
Natural Order would be amazing in this deck, if you do decide to put it in you MUST find room for Worldspine Wurm .
Eldrazi token could be cool Awakening Zone , Skittering Invasion especially with stuff like Doubling Season , Parallel Lives , Rhys the Redeemed . The same could be said for Sprout Swarm which would get out of hand quickly. Both of these tiny tokens would become huge threats with Overwhelming Stampede /Collective Blessing .
Gutter Grime could be fun against board wipes... idk how much trouble the usually give you though.
Nice deck +1
May 30, 2013 8:21 a.m.
I will never get Natural Order because it's over $30 to order a single, and I don't ever plan on buying any Portal.
I took out my Eldrazi token producers because I wanted to weed out as many small tokens as I could. Note that the only small tokens I can produce now are part of larger effects, or are on a gigantic scale like with Storm Herd.
Gutter Grime is pretty crap, as it only ever triggers when non-token creatures die, and will often be the target of a Krosan Grip if it's ever threatening.
All in all thanks for the suggestions, but they're either unrealistic, or I've already removed them.
May 30, 2013 12:23 p.m.
The dynamic duo of Elspeth Tirel and Elspeth, Knight-Errant would wreak Havoc here for sure. They are best buds with Trostani.
May 30, 2013 3:48 p.m.
Nope. I don't really like them in this deck, they don't fit my preferred theme of big dudes (3/3 and up) and Knight Errant is stupidly expensive. I also really dislike Tirel's ultimate, as it blows up all my fun cards.

Cards I would consider cutting:
- Kazandu Tuskcaller - Seems a bit slow and vulnerable.
- Thragtusk - Seems underwhelming in EDH.
- Tolsimir Wolfblood - Kind of expensive for the effect.
- Gelatinous Genesis - Seems a bit expensive to cast for any appreciable amount.
Cards I would consider adding:
- Growing Ranks - Doesn't seem too bad if you can populate fat tokens every turn.
- Parallel Evolution - Could get ludicrous.
- Fresh Meat - Could be insurance against board wipes.
- Hour of Reckoning - Decent board wipe for token decks.
- Wolfbriar Elemental - May or may not be worth pursuing.
- Sol Ring
- Mana Vault
- Oblivion Ring
It's difficult to suggest cards for this deck. You've included many of the staples that aren't overly expensive (counterexample: Gaea's Cradle ), and the approach isn't really something I've seen before. Most token decks focus on Saprolings or Eldrazi Spawn. How well does this deck work for you? Some of my suggestions may be irrelevant because I'm not really sure how the deck performs.
Also, I don't think a lifegain approach is really necessary. Lifegain tends to be a waste of resources because there are so many viable alternate win conditions in EDH. Lifegain doesn't really do much for you, either. It's fine as a secondary benefit from cards like Trostani, but I don't think it's necessary.
May 30, 2013 7:45 p.m.
I appreciate your input, and some of the cards you've suggested are cards I'm either taken out, considered or just don't feel are worth the money. As for the cards you suggested to cut:
Kazandu Tuskcaller : A good mana sink, but I could stand to lose it, as it's not a huge engine or the deck or anything.
Thragtusk : Better than you think. It leaves me a populatable and doublable dude, and gains me life to negate a single attack.
Tolsimir Wolfblood : In here for flavour reasons more than anything, and to abuse ETB triggers. He does the job pretty well, but if I ever really needed room, he'd be an easy cut.
Gelatinous Genesis : Way too good to cut. Really awesome to come back from a sweeper.
As for lifegain, I've been flipflopping on the issue for a while, and I'm still weighing my options. I know for sure I'm at least including Primeval Bounty, True Conviction and Feudkiller's Verdict though.
Cards I would consider running out of your suggestions:
Fresh Meat : Really good way to come back from a sweeper, which would give me 3 cheap ways to bounce back awesomely in total.
Growing Ranks : Took it out a while back, kinda wanna see how well it performs back in. I'm almost shifting back towards a more enchantment oriented deck again.
Parallel Evolution : A soft maybe, I don't like the fact that such an expensive spell does nothing to help me bounce back from mass removal.
All-in-all, thanks a bunch for the advice. And to answer your question about the deck's performance; It does quite well. I don't really lose all too often, and the deck is incredibly resilient.

for s**t and giggles, play a Dark Depths ! Though it doens't combo quite well with Doubling Season ...
June 5, 2013 2:50 p.m.
If Depths wasn't $17 I'd probably do it just for fun. But I'm not wasting nearly $20.

I love token decks. I want to point out (not to you, but to other people reading to this comment) the sheer FUN of the Cathars' Crusade
, Storm Herd
, Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
combo. I used to run it in my Ghave deck and I loved it, and here it's even more consistent given that one of the combo pieces is your commander. 1,600 life and a swarm of 40 40/40 flying tokens? Probably MORE given your commander is Trostani? Yes please.
Since you have a few comments about not wanting to spend a ton of money on cards for a singleton, I won't even bother with suggestions of cards that are over $15.
Thragtusk -> Avenger of Zendikar
I get the synergy between Thragtusk and Trostani. Don't get me wrong, it's good synergy. But while Thragtusk isn't horrible in Commander, there are generally superior options. Besides, running a token deck that has the color green and not running Avenger is practically a crime. He's an army in a can, and can win games all on his own.
Chromatic Lantern/Darksteel Ingot -> Selesnya Signet It looks like an inconsequential change, and in a lot of ways it is, but it'll let you get a turn 3 Trostani as opposed to a turn 4 Trostani, which your other manastones won't. Generally, playing your commander early while everyone still has removal is a bad strategy, but having the OPTION to play your commander earlier never is (especially when you need her as a source of life gain, which you mentioned incorperating). Also, it can convert a Grove of the Guardian or Gavony Township colorless into WG, which can help with early game mana fixing (not that you usually need it in two colors).
Trostani's Summoner -> Requiem Angel
Trostani's Summoner is decent for what you're trying to do, but Requiem Angel is the gift that keeps on giving. In addition to being cheaper, having a better body, and flying, she also spits out a spirit anytime a nonspirit dies. This gives you an incredible amount resiliency, and synergizes well with your commander, most of your enchantments, and a lot of your creatures.

Good suggestions, but not right for me. Avenger of Zendikar makes an army... of small dudes. I've already weeded out most small tokens, and am keeping it that way, just the theme I've gone with.
I'd rather have more effective mana rocks that do things other than filter, and having the option get out Trostani on turn 3 never appeals to me.
Tortsani's Summoner is too good and on theme. Requiem Angel is very far off theme for me.
It really comes down to what I wanna stick with consistently, and that's big fatty tokens with as little small tokens as possible (except for special cases like Storm Herd and Martial Coup).

I like the way this is put together, and your focus AWAY from small tokens changes quite a bit. I think more draw tech/CA will always help, a la Harmonize , Soul's Majesty , Greater Good , Oracle of Mul Daya , etc..
Other than that, I only have two suggestions:
Sterling Grove - gets better as you add more enchantments, obv.
Budoka Gardener - ramps effectively, and then pops out HUGE tokens
June 7, 2013 2:26 p.m.
I have thought about both of those cards before and have been flipflopping between then for a while.
As for the card draw and such, I actually get by fine without it.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah, I used to have RiP, but I took it out for 2 main reasons.
Whenever I played it, it made me a huge target until it was removed.
I wanted to be able to play Sun Titan more effectively.
