Knowledge Pool/Curse of Exhaustion stops the target opponent from playing spells, since the Knowledge Pool requires an opponent to play 2 spells for each 1 cast, and the curse stops them.

Humility and Night of Soul's Betrayal, is a board wipe / constant creature kill.

Leyline is for burn/mill blocking

Privileged Position and crystal chimes are for blocking enchantment hate, and retrieval.

Oblivion rings/Void snares/walls are for anything you need to stop from hitting you early game, since this is such a very late game deck.

Tutors/beseech to retrieve specific combo pieces.

Moat and Mystic Decree stop all creatures from attacking and effectually freeze the combat phase.

The deck has more cards since, you want to freeze the board and then basically say, I have more cards in my deck then you, so if we sit here long enough, you will just run out of cards. :P
