Sideboard

UPDATE; The biggest thing anyone can help with right now with this list is to help make suggestions for how my SIDEBOARD should end up looking. Obviously, this is just a collection of cards that I keep around for various situations. I want to get into a more strict traditional sideboard look.

Not that it needs to be down to 15 - no one I play with really cares, I don't think lol. I'd laugh in someone's face if they were like "you have too many cards in your SB!" or something lol...

But if anyone can suggest, like, full playset side cards that will get a lot of good use in this list. And suggestions how to employ what side cards in what situations or against what opp decks. One of my biggest issues as a player - at this point, if I want to earnestly critique my own play style or skill level - is that I don't feel that I'm doing very well at being an effective sideboarder and making good use of, I guess, adjusting my deck to a situation for the 2nd or 3rd hands...

That would be the biggest thing I think that will help and I'd appreciate everyone's input. Thanks!

This is a reworked version of my other sap deck. That one is here (been awhile - hope my syntax is correct...):

G/B Saproling Overrun

Anyway, that doesn't matter because other than still being a sap token deck; I've reworked this version to the point of being nearly unrecognizable...

Some of the big differences I've made since Guilds was released: A) Increased aggression and speed to keep up with the new meta B) Lowered Mana curve from 3+ to just over 2 C) Increased Green saturation D) Adopted more card draw / draw filtering mechanics E) Cut 'straight' creature removal from 9 or 10 cards to 5 And F) Added more bombs and combat tricks.

So, with the new changes, I've gone 2-1 every Friday. Still haven't gone undefeated at a FNM event, yet, which I feel is truly non-indicative of just how 'dangerous' and fast this new version is. Since Guilds came in - anyone who plays every week already knows - this new meta is 'fast' as hell, ain't it?... I feel like if I'd have played this new version before kaladesh / amonket rotated out it would have been Savage AF! That being said, this is a G/B creature deck that is more than capable of holding its own swimming right alongside all the standard fare. That is of course; burn decks, counter decks and Izzet Drakes "how ever you might possibly want 'em"... And yes, I've pulled a great deal of humility from many spell-slinging, flying, 'counter-anything-you-try-to-play' decks recently. And in my humble opinion; just the fact that I bring this deck to magic every Friday and don't leave ashamed that I played a creature deck in standard in December 2018 - for anyone who's actually out playing MTG right now I feel like that should be testimonial enough just how damn wicked this s**t can and does get.

  • My head isn't fat enough that I just 'presume' to tell y'all how to play. But I win two out of five hands consistently by swinging with every head I have and super sizing any unblocked attacker with Might of the Masses. Deadly when you're talking +12/+12 for one tree sign. When a 1/1 sap hits you twice and you're marking down negative 6 health; that's a sad magic day, son! Worse yet, hang on to Might of the Masses until you have 2 or 3 (depending on your board presence), then spank 'em into the grave in one hit. "But he was only a 1/1"

The strategy for this deck is simple. Go as wide as humanly possible, cash in on even the slightest opponent misplays, dare them to allow even one little stupid sap to go at them unimpeded and kill every single one of their favorite weapons the 'moment' you see them - for 1 or 2 Mana to boot. Fun times;)!

There are definitely other reasons; but I'll accept my part of the blame. We play with a bunch of 'very' careful and deliberate type nerds at my local shop, lol...
