Tsabo Tavoc, the Original Praetor

Commander / EDH BR (Rakdos) Multiplayer

SuperAshura

As I make my way through the Prismatic Project, I've noticed patterns emerging. Now, I'm building all these decks for a number of reasons, but primarily I get bored playing the same deck all the time. I also, like every other human being, crave pattern completion. I noticed all my decks are using newer generals, I also noted that I rely on creatures far too much, and although I durdle a lot, I don't play a lot of control. Even Ob Nixilis, the deck that wraths everything all the time, runs a critical mass of creatures. Then I noticed that I was one deck away from finishing two cycles of decks: Blue finishes off my monocolored decks, and Rakdos finishes off my allied colored decks. I needed something old, control-y, and creature-light. Clearly Rakdos was the answer! Kaervek is neat, but a tad overplayed and easy to hate out. Grenzo's too new, and all the Legends ones suck. That leaves Tsabo, the original Phyrexian Praetor! Elesh Who? Vorin-what? None of the new kids on the block have the style or killing power of the Conqueror of Tolaria! The idea here is to play more reactively and threaten the board with the suggestion of what you can do. Play Repercussion, Pestilence, or Waste Not while holding Delirium, Fire Covenant, or Blasphemous Act. Make your enemies second guess even approaching you. Don't just eat your prey, play with it first! Toss in a healthy amount of discard and they'll be feeling as helpless as those pathetic metathrans.
