Turbofog deck that I've been running in Standard with new additions from M15 that make a surprisingly consistently winning deck even better.
Explanation of Cards:
Defend the Hearth
Fog and Druid's Deliverance should all be pretty obvious.
Dakra Mystic is an all-star in this deck that lets you draw more fogs while seeing what they draw. Of course its only what they draw through Dakra, but its more information than they are getting since you're more likely than not gonna draw a fog and they already knew that.
Dictate of Kruphix draws cards. It draws LOTS of cards. Yes the Opponent gets cards, but who cares? You're drawing fogs!
The two Elixir of Immortality are in here for a nice cushion and to put fogs back into the deck for future use.
Cyclonic Rift Just what this deck wants. When you draw it more likely than not its late enough in the game where you can overload it no problem. Also an answer to Gary.
Thassa, God of the Sea Helps filter through the deck and with two Dictates down she can start swinging and blocking like a champ.
Keranos, God of Storms is an awesome finisher and deck filter. Not only that, him and Thassa synergise wonderfully.
Circle of Flame
Stops aggro right in its tracks. Also fixes one of the decks earlier weak points of people just swinging little guys to either get free damage or bait out fogs. Also synergises amazingly with..
Polymorphist's Jest
I may be wrong about this card but all I can say about is I would play it even if it was 4 mana...happily. Not only does it combo with
Circle of Flame
for one sided board wipes its also makes Gary's appearance onto the field much less grand.
AEtherize Is how you beat Skullcrack without countering it. Plus its nice to have another fog like effect to help stave off the bad guys who want to hit your face.
Grindclock According to what I've read a lot of people are mad that this got reprinted. A waste of a Rare is one of the more common complaints. Me personally I couldn't be happier about the reprint. In this deck its a 2 mana win condition that requires no further mana or resources to utilize. The only thing it needs to start up is time and time is what this deck has.
This deck was originally made to prove that Dictate of Kruphix and Dakra Mystic were good cards worth of standard play. While not Pro-Tour playable this deck has been able to match and even win against some of the most powerful decks in standard. Its main weaknesses are Mono-black devotion and Burn. But that's why sideboards were invented. Dissolve helps deal with Gary, and all the burn spells from Burn. Dispel helps keep pace against burn before we have the mana for dissolve. The extra Elixirs help cushion our life total while helping to restock the deck with counterspells. Tormod's Crypt helps against both Mono-black and Burn by negating black's whip and helping to get rid of any Phoenix's from burn. Codex Shredder serves a two-fold purpose against Mono-black: It digs for Gary's and brings back Dissolve, Cyclonic Rift, or Polymorphic Jest from the graveyard after they have been Thoughseized or Durresed away. All at instant speed!
