It's good if your goal is to nut draw, but it looks like you're moving away from that, so I would say just test them and see if it helps

Put in Batterskull for Wurmcoil Engine 1 cmc cheeper making it turn 3 with Generator Servant and we can reuse it more than wurmcoil's ability. Also thinking about bringing back a Rogue's Passage or two I want my lands to do something as well or even Lavaclaw Reaches

So Batterskull doesn't count as a creature so that sucks. Maybe Stormbreath Dragon? We'll see
January 14, 2015 6:04 p.m.
i think Wurmcoil Engine would be the way to go then. Also in my opinion Phyrexian Arena is too slow.

klone13 I didn't explain myself sorry I was in a rush. I really want a 5 (or 4 if it's that good) because at best Wurmcoil Engine is a 4 drop with haste. I'm trying to make it as competitive as possible. I'm trying for a 3 drop with haste. I'll update the goal of the deck soon I want to use the pieces of the combo if I don't get all three (synergy with Generator Servant is what I'm looking at rn, Goblin Fireslinger works great with Rakdos, Lord of Riots. Just a quick philosophy of my thinking

I do partially agree with that. Phyrexian Arena turn 3 is amazing but unless I run more it won't happen and it was just there so I'd have 5 cards dedicated to draw, plus the life usually sucks against competitive/fast decks (which is what we're trying to make slowly but surely haha) Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker could possibly cover that and he's removal and a threat so let's try that. Turn 5 isn't great but a turn 3 is possible and hey it's basically a Stormbreath Dragon but arguably better

Cmc distribution seems a little skewed right so I'll be thinking about that.

Thundermaw Hellkite looks like a bomb but Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker also has indestructible and his removal. The one thing I do want is another Rakdos, Lord of Riots I'm debating how worth it is to just have 2 because we can cast him turn 4

The fact that sarkhan is indestructible is irrelevant : They both resist to bolt and Flame Slash, but both die to PtE and dismember

Considered turning this into a Rakdos Skred deck?
if not then how about a better mana base? Probably 4x Wooded Foothills in place of Dragonskull Summit. Manlands are crucial to modern. I wouldn't use Mutavault because of lord of rights mana cost so maybe Lavaclaw Reaches. U could drop 2x Blood Crypt for 2x Tectonic Edge.

Rereading some of these comments I question the advice ur getting . :/ anyway ur not dead vs Pod without discard that's a dumb statement simply bolt the mana dorks. Slaughter Pact > Vendetta > Doom Blade. Slaughter Pact can get u a T3 Liliana of the Veil safely on the board vs Twin and even trick them into misfiring. Slaughter Pact can save ur ass when u have to tap out to chump say vs Infect needing to deal with both a Glistener Elf and Inkmoth Nexus capable of being pumped for lethal. Doom Blade and Go for the Throat are meta specific but in general deceptive crap cards. Only recently has Doom Blade been seeing any play since KTK B/Gx has Dark Confidant on the sidelines. Victim of Night Smother Darkblast Dismember are generally better choices than Doom Blade being B/R Ur removal setup is fine as is.

APPLE01DOJ I'm totally cool with cutting the discard it was just there to be a good turn 1 mess up their plan kindof thing, so that's 6 spots. Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker is there so I have 5 cards for draw power(Chandra, Pyromaster has nice card advantage so I figured to make card advantage consistent?) and Sarkhan conveniently a creature but Phyrexian Arena seems better and I had that in here but I was worried about the life loss. Vampire Nighthawk I've considered. I want the deck to be creature heavy to utilize Rakdos, Lord of Riots(I think he's insane he just needs a home) I'll do a quick mock update of what I have in mind, feel free to give your advice.
As lands wouldn't Ghost Quarter better combat Tron? Unless it's just in general. I don't see the big advantage of Wooded Foothills as deck thinning isn't actually worth it but I do want man lands I think
The sb needs tons of 'tweaking' I have Rakdos Charm and Ratchet Bomb so lets try for them.
Advice is optionated so bad vs good is hard to pin, but I serious appreciate good advice which I think yours is

I suggested Wooded Foothills because your deck has a red core. Any red or black fetches could work though. This adds consistency and flexibility deck thinning is an irrelevant assessment people who didn't understand fetches came to. If u run 8 fetches and 2 Blood Crypt it is essentially running 10x Blood Crypt with the option of grabbing basics too. great if u go against Blood Moon or there is an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth on the field not to mention with 4x checks and 4x filters opening hands consisting of multiples of either of those and no other lands can be quite rough.

Discard is good. It's nowhere near as vital vs Pod as other matches though. Blightning is awesome. Hits them later when they only have 2 cards on hand and at minimum is an overpriced bolt clone. Another option is u can include 1-2x Rix Maadi, Dungeon Palace. Duress is okay I much prefer Inquisition of Kozilek beyond a Thoughtseize play set.
Life is a commodity and the only point that matters is your last. A lot of people are afraid to spend life these days but when u do u get an advantage. Phyrexian Arena is awesome. Even if I owned 4x Dark Confidant I'd always keep at least 1x Arena in the 75. Alternatively if u want your deck to be slower u could run Underworld Connections.
Vampy is great a lot of the time. The main arguments against him is that for 3 mana u could be playing Liliana of the Veil and that he doesn't have any actual impact upon hitting the board nor any real protection.
This deck reminds me a lot of my first modern deck. I had vampy in it and would use Crypt Ghast to ramp into Sheoldred, Whispering One Sheoldred, Whispering One -†-BLΔCK-†- SΔCR‡F‡C3

It's all cool man! Haha I've actually seen your deck looking up stuff it's sick:p. Anywho the lands need updating and that's complicated so I'll do that later. I did the deck it seems interesting! The only problem I have with Liliana of the Veil is that discarding your hand I'd want to take advantage of that with creatures like Demigod of Revenge but with colorless lands he'll be hard to cast and he can't be cast with Rakdos, Lord of Riots, and she's expensive as balls I mean if she makes or breaks this deck I'll add her I just feel there's other ways to go (not that you were hardcore recommending her just my thinking) I'll be back later

Break Through the Line Just saw this card on Manasource. I think it would fit nicely in here.

APPLE01DOJ says... #25
Well I know budget is a factor otherwise I would have been hardcore suggesting her. She's pretty much an auto 4 of in any black deck IMO. Demigod is actually too slow for modern. I'm currently playing her in a Zombie deck that loves her offset but the truth is that u really don't need to be set up for her for her to be effective. She flat out dominates. Say u and ur opponent are both in top deck mode on an empty board, Resolve Lilly and they need to top deck an Abrupt Decay or it's curtains. They have to play whatever they top deck that turn or Lilly will +1 it away and even if they do play it, if it's a creature she'll just -2 it away.

I was thinking if I got the 3 pieces to the MoC puzzle we'd be tappedout. But true besides that it doesn't seem to powerful, but then again it's like 7.5$, not that price completely determines playability but it represents it sometimes
