lavaclaw reaches seems like an odd choice as a tapland that rarely has the mana to be a creature. maybe something like Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle could be a better fit (even gives ghost quarter+crucible a lightning bolt per turn option)

Seismic Spike could also be fun as it gives you RR back after destroying a land.

Koth of the Hammer as a finisher? making 4/4s while crippling your opponents mana base (also gives you an advance on mana and some serious mountain pain)

other then that i like the deck +1

A friend of mine was obsessed with this idea as well. (Likely because I hated to play against aggressive LD) He came up with a concept that I haven't messed with myself while we were playing in Kamigawa era. Modern wasn't a thing yet and Legacy was referred to as type 1.5

His deck concept may fit in with your idea:

Choose to go second.T1: Pitch Simian Spirit Guide and a land cast a 1 drop haste guy like Spark Elemental. Slam for 3 and then cast Crack the Earth.

He pulled this off so many times I swore he was cheating. He would do the same thing after a pyroclasm or some form of boardwipe (as the deck ran Hunted Dragon). Poke your for 3, you have no doods, sac something. It was infuriating.

===============

There was also a bloodmoon metakiller that passed around my neck of the woods for a bit, dubbed Big Red or WildMoon or something. It revolved around Koth and manarocks to cast Wildfire.
I know your deck isn't the same things as either of these decks but I figured it may be food for thought as you continue to develop your ideas.

I'm also doing a modern LD deck, and using Crack the Earth and Boom/Bust with Flagstones of Trokair for early LD and possibly creature control, if it's needed..... (just a thought)

Do you tried Aggressive Mining here? I think it's worth a try.

@Xenkay pls explain. why do you think Aggressive Mining is good?

Well, your deck aims to destroy enemy recources. So in turn 4 or 5 he will, if your strategy runs, not have more than 1 or 2 lands and you have 4 or 5. Your enemy wont have any lands and you sacrifice your lands to draw cards. When you save at least 3 lands and your Simian Spirit Guide in your hand you are still able to play Shivan Wumpus. But it was only an idea.

What about Decree of Annihilation's cycle ability for a late game play? Use crucible to get your lands back and the opponents lands will all be gone.

But even cycled is Decree of Annihilation far too slow. When he have the recources to play a spell with CMC 7 he is losing or the game is already finished. His deck should not play into lategame. Maybe in sideboard but as I said, far too slow.

Maybe an Obsidian Fireheart for the lands you can't destroy?

that is a nice card! But I doubt it would find a home in my build. It already struggles with speed on some draws

I would totally advocate for the Splash white in this deck for 3 reasons. 1) Ajani Vengeant is great because his plus one ability is super relevant outside of his ultimate.2) You can run Boros Charm to burn, protect your own lands/creatures, or give Shivan Wumpus double strike.3) You can run Flagstones of Trokair for value.

I was going to say Rain of Tears, but the "BB" in the cost is probably a bit much for this deck.

Personally, I would take out Blood Crypt and Lavaclaw Reaches and just pay the phyrexian cost for Surgical Extraction. Shocking yourself and risking a tapped land don't seem worth it when you could just cast it for 2 life.

Could you use Bloodstained Mire as another way to save your land in a Boom situation? Target it and the sacrifice it in response to being targeted. If it works like that it would make your T1 combo more consistent

That does work, and I think he had Arid Mesa in an earlier incarnation of the deck, if memory serves. One advantage of Darksteel Citadel is that it works with Bust as well, while fetches don't.

t1 Dark Ritual + Sinkhole + Thoughtseize.. Thats always been my favorite t1 land destruction

Simian Spirit Guide+Graven Cairns+Smallpox...? Could be good, might be too fragile. Your thoughts? (+1 on the deck btw)

Its_Johnny_Bravo: That's an AWESOME combo for Legacy, Vintage, and Commander, but Dark Ritual is banned in Modern.
