CMC 4, 6/6 Trample, Land-Destruction or annoying Beast. On the other hand, do you have any alternatives?

For this deck, Shivan Wumpus is really good, it is a 6/6 for 4. Turn 4 when you play this the opponent will most likely want to keep the 1 or 2 lands they still have , or they will put it on top and you can play it the next turn when they will still have 1 or 2 lands.

For more turn 1 land destruction try Crack the Earth

if your gonna use crack the earth , a artifact like a wellspring or more land then, and instead of wumpus, swiftspear for early damage, wumpus could stall you if they keep putting on your library and then they start playing there deck

if the wumpus had haste then it be worth it, and darksteel and boom/bust is too slow in my opion cause you need a legal target and after turn one you may have to pick a mountain if i have it right

Darksteel Citadel is a legal target, marioman77. It just wouldn't be destroyed.

And if they are putting the Shivan Wumpus on top of your library, they aren't getting any new lands and they will just be stuck at whatever count they were at, and that's if they are playing more lands. Once they run out of lands that they can play, they start losing their land count because they don't want the Wumpus on the board. Once they are out of lands, they can't put the Wumpus on top and you can start swinging them

You play so few creatures that all the removal spells wasting time in your opponent's hand will immediately be used to destroy Shivan Wumpus. Opponents will not sacrifice lands because why would they when they finally have a creature to use their removal on? It's a bad choice to give your opponent's options regardless.

How can you Turn 3 Molten rain? After T2 Boom/Bust, you will only have 1 Land left.

Because you can target Boom/Bust on either a Darksteel Citadel or a fetchland. In the first case, when it resolves it destroys your opponent's land but not your citadel (because indestructible). In the second case, you can crack your fetchland in response. When Boom resolves, it destroys your opponent's land but can't destroy your land because it no longer exists because the land that replaces a fetch is a new permanent. Boom isn't countered because it still has a valid target when it resolves. Simian Spirit Guide also lets you cast your spells early or on time if you lost a land.

If it was a fetch then you would still only have 1 mana open, so you would have to crack it. Then you would be in the same spot. But you would be correct about the Citadel. Didn't notice that in there. XD

carlthekatt: I believe that cracking the fetchland in response, since BOTH targets are not valid when it resolves, still counters the Boom, but I'm not 100% sure. I always thought that having ANY invalid targets of a spell countered it. The Darksteel Citadel works because it is a targetable permanent that remains on the field, so when the effect is resolved it tries to destroy its valid target and just fails due to it being indestructible.

Have you tried playing Crack the Earth and Stoneshaker Shaman or Akki Blizzard-Herder? I have a LD deck as well and those seem to work very well. I can start popping land by first and 2nd turn easily.

Actually there is a ruling on darksteel citadel of Some sort (I thought it was weird) that the citadel was not a legal target unless it the only target (or all other targets were also indestructible) The rule makes no sense to me whatsoever, I'm just simply passing on information.

Encroaching Wastes, though much slower, might be an option. +1

Shkreych: You have to be on the draw. Land for turn Darksteel Citadel, discard Simian Spirit Guide, Boom/Bust targeting your citadel and their land for first turn.
