Possible Khans of Tarkir additions (as of today):

--Ainok Bond-Kin - decent 2 drop to boost all of my counter creatures' abilities to attack first. The "outlast' ability would be an added bonus when paired with Hardened Scales .

--Hardened Scales - definitely going in! Any Heroic abilities just doubled in strength - for a single mana cost! It would also work WONDERS with Ajani, Mentor of Heroes . Can't wait to use this one! It's simply a question of how many and what to replace.

--Herald of Anafenza - not sure on this one. Not bad for a one drop - just not sure if it's worth the exchange. The "outlast' ability could be nice if paired with Hardened Scales .

Yeah, I played it at last week's FNM. 8 wins, 4 losses. 2 of the losses were very close. It was a very fun deck to play with. The only weakness it had with other decks was with a junk white deck. This deck is not terribly fast as others, but if it can survive to turn 6 or 7, it's good. I replaced Mistcutter Hydra with Prophet of Kruphix to speed up turns with playing creatures/instants with replenished mana on the opponent's turn. Also looking forward to speeding up my +1/+1 counter production with Hardened Scales once KOT comes out.

I believe I've been told that Ajani's +1 targeting the creature does not trigger Heroic, as it is not a spell but an ability. Very important rule to consider. If I ran across you playing that combo I would unfortunately call a judge to clarify.

You are correct. Ajani cannot trigger Heroic. I use him to build up Fabled Hero simply for the double strike and then, hopefully, for other boosts like Aqueous Form or Solidarity of Heroes to enjoy.

love the deck, i would totally play it. i fishbowled it a bunch though, and found that Abzan Falconer was a card i didnt want literally every time i drew it. also the deck can be a touch slow so it might have difficulty against aggro, so replacing that Abzan Falconer slot with something to either ramp like Elvish Mystic or to help dig for combo pieces faster, like Kruphix's Insight or taigam's scheming or to buy you some time against aggro like Void Snare might be helpful. dat combo doe

Just remember that Mistcutter Hydra can't be enchanted with Aqueous Form ;)

I really like where you are going with this deck. The essential combo pieces are now 3 of instead of 2 of and how you have incorporated KTK into this deck. Planning to play this after what I pulled at prerelease. Not to brag, but my sealed pool was worth 100$.

SITS_Gaming nice! Mine was about $40. My best pulls were Flooded Strand , Rattleclaw Mystic , and Narset, Enlightened Master . I would love to build a deck around Narset. Such a cool card ability.

cww02d: Why not use 1 or 2 Windswept Hearth in the deck? My play tests have found them quite helpful. I still mainboard the Dawnbringer Charioteers and side the High Sentinels of Arashin.

For extra turns, why not put in 1 Medomai the Ageless ? he is a bit expensive but hey extra turns

I actually play tested before with Medomai the Ageless and it just didn't work the way I wanted it to. I was always hoping for a different card when it came up. It's cost is kinda high too. I wish I could use it, though.

This is awesome you should try fetchlands, im sure they'll drop price at some point.

I find that the one gap in this deck is the auras- they trigger heroic, but then say Whelming Wave and they're gone, counters are gone, wasted all around. I'm confidant this would be reticular against normal aggro however, and I love the idea and even just attempting to use extra turns in standard deserves commendation. +1.

Why you DON'T mess with hydras.

The above won every time, but your deck kept coming close. In fact it frequently got 4 counters on sage & Ajani but then something always happened.

What instants, and or counterspells would you guys suggest someone put in this deck because there aren't any as far as I can see, that would help you against control decks and pesky spells

If you're looking for instants or counter spells, Feat of Resistance isn't bad. You can play in response, plus gain a counter at the same time. Haven't play tested with it yet, but it could work. Just a thought.

Yep, as cww02d said, you can run Feat of Resistance .

Gods Willing is also a huge staple in a lot of other heroic decks, including mine.

If you're worried about mass removal spells, your only option might be Ajani's Presence

So just to clarify if someone throws down a destroy creature instant or sorcery, u can counter with feat of resistance gods willing or ajanis presence, and the destroy creature instant/sorcery will fizzle out, and feat of resistance gods willing or ajanis presence effects, take effect over the opponents destroy creature instant or sorcery?

oh and how many feat of resistance, gods willing or Ajani's presence would you put in the deck and what would you take out to replace it with?
