I think Bloodgift Demon is to slow for Modern, if you need card draw run Phyrexian Arena or Night's Whisper , otherwise look's solid +1

Yeah, I'm kinda unconventional like that lol. I wanted another flying beater at 5 CMC that could survive the Bolt test. The card draw is an added benefit, but being an attrition deck, I often use Bloodgift Demon to eke out some life loss, dealing a coup de tat.

And thanks, btw!

I've considered Night's Whisper or even Underworld Connections as a budget substitute for Arena.

If you don't mind the price, try out Voice of Resurgence , it's great for this deck. Also, one of my favorite Living End counters: Chalice of the Void . Cast it for zero, and use it to CATCH THEIR TEARS.

I love the 1-off of Sigarda, Host of Herons . She's a wonderfully annoying beater, and a great wincon. Have you considered throwing in some more conventional 'value' cards a 'la Melira Pod, like the already mentioned Voice of Resurgence or Kitchen Finks , (which is a fine budget substitute for Goyf, btw), or Scavenging Ooze , etc. You have the mana dorks for it.

I would add 1 more of Fauna Shaman , if only because she's a primary hate target. She'll get bolted first thing when she comes out, so it'll be good to know that you have a backup waiting to be drawn.

You might also want to throw in a 1-off of Thrun, the Last Troll in there, he's a lovely wincon himself. Also, replace Sword of Feast and Famine with Sword of Fire and Ice . It's just better in every way, especially when attached to Sigardia. That alone will end the game.

@slovakattack EXCELLENT suggestions, sir! I have access to many of the cards you suggested, with the exception of SoF&I, as it's a bit out of my price range. I recently obtained a Voice and am looking for Thrun and Scooze. I have Chalice that I totally forgot to include in the SB. Set at 1, it also hoses Tron and more! Thanks dude!!!

No problemo. Actually, looking at your deck now, try out Sword of Light and Shadow instead of Sword of Fire and Ice .

It'll let you stall longer, and re-use cards like Obstinate Baloth , etc.

Both swords are awesome, but still out of my price range, ATM. I'm forced to use what I have, or is ~$18 or less per card.

I'm thinking about squeezing in 2x Chord of Calling in lieu of Fauna Shaman . Thoughts?

Hmm... It's kind of a tossup. Chord is faster once it hits, but it takes a lot more mana to get going. Look at your creatures. Even with Birds of Paradise, can you rely on getting 6-8 mana out to tutor every game? Remember, those birds get bolted a -lot.-

Good point...

How do you propose you beat tron with no Tectonic Edge or Fulminator Mage. Only 3 seize and 1 mael pulse?

quesobueno123 says... #10

I would run 3 Siege Rhino

February 1, 2015 1:44 p.m.

ChiefBell, do you like Tec Edge over Ghost Quarter? GQ can hit a land immediately, whereas I need to wait til they have 4 lands on board w Tec Edge. Mage is a bit out of my price range, although I may be able to borrow a few.

I haven't tested against Tron as of yet. The gameplan is to Seize/Duress out Karn, fetch GQ to blowup a Tron land, and PtE Wurmcoil. Seems like a hard matchup. I can side in Surgical Extraction and Maelstrom Pulse. After blowing up a Tron land, SE should work well. What do you propose I do differently?

Working on that, quesobueno123 :-)

You'll need 2 more GQs in the side

I do like tec edge but meh. It's a personal thing.

Tron is tough.

February 1, 2015 3:31 p.m.

That may be possible to add. How do you think Chalice of the Void performs against Tron? T2 set at one can nix their cantrips, maps, and so forth. Heck, Chalice at one shuts down a lot of decks... Mayhap not ideal for Tron?

I just wanted to point out that the deck has 61 cards in it

February 1, 2015 7:15 p.m.

Yep. It does! :-P

Y u no 4 Abrupt Decay main board? Also, if you're tailoring to beat burn, Kitchen Finks is really good.

February 21, 2015 1:31 p.m.

I'm testing out some odd cards like Garruk and Sigarda. I may end up running four Decay main. I do have Finks in the side. It is great vs any Aggro.

@aeonstoremyliver - Don't you run 61 cards in a couple of decks? I can't remember if that's you xD

April 6, 2015 8:14 p.m.

Lol yep! It's a quirk of mine. I never run more than 60 iny RDW/Burn decks, though.

Looks dope. I would find space for at least 2x Lingering Souls (preferably 4). You could start by cutting 1x Knight of the Reliquary and 1x Qasali Pridemage. You have Abrupt Decay & Maelstrom Pulse so you really don't need Qasali Pridemage. I think you need more fetches for Knight of the Reliquary to be optimal.

You don't want Dryad Arbor. It just doesn't do anything for this deck.

I'd also remove Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, because it enables the Eldrazi decks roaming around.

February 27, 2016 2:21 p.m.

Good point about Urborg. I like it because it helps me get for Lili, but Twilight Mire is an adequate substitute.

Why don't you like Dryad Arbor, Scouty? Being able to fetch it in a pinch for the mirror or what have you is nice. Would you suggest Treetop Village in Arbor's place?

February 27, 2016 2:28 p.m.

Where to put one Kalitas main and one in the side? I think they'd be fantastic vs Aggro after Eldrazi gets neutered...
