Propaganda is better than Norn's Annex, because mana is a much more important resource than life.

I've always liked the Gomazoas for defense, them and Fog Bank. Should help stop aggro decks.

thanks for the tip. Fog Bank alone should be good enough for here.

First off, I believe when something copies something else, it doesn't copy the counters. So you don't actually need Vampire Hexmage although he can be useful if you don't have a stage on hand with your DD.

I think personally I would go with one or the other of Nauseam or Dig. I think Nauseam is a hair better in here. I'm curious why you don't run Angel's Grace, is it just the colour restriction or some other reasoning?

If more competitive is the aim I would think that Lotus Petal would be a slightly more cost efficient and deck efficient thing to run.

Just the initial thoughts I had, I'll wait for your response

I didn't think about Lotus Petal when I was making the deck. I had the idea to add Angel's Grace, but didn't want to worry about 3 colors. I might try it later on. Dark Depths is also more of a hopeful thought really. The price is WAY above my budget.

well if you do use Lotus Petal then Angel's Grace becomes a lot easier to run. This reminds me of a storm deck, except it's not.

I like your ideas that you have here though, I love budget stuff that might not be as competitive (read: cut throat) but are still fun to play with nonetheless.

+1

Awesome! My favorite thing about magic is just doing weird stuff with the rules while staying budget. Thanks for the suggestions and especially the +1.

I like it but I had to say: inb4 Mind Rot. +1. To be honest, mind rot could be dealt with with a draw spell. But still.

Thanks! Mind Rot is definitely helpful, but I am not sure if I can afford the CMC. I will definitely try it out though. Maybe I will put it in sideboard and bring it in against draw heavy decks.

I'm saying mind rot because with null profusion out and no draw spells in hand, it ruins your game. No draw, no play. I wouldn't suggest mind rot for your deck; I know what I'm about, son.

I play commander exclusively these days, but do you ever have problems with your game-winning non-creature spells being countered? It seems like you have very little protection against that (one copy of Mana Leak), and that you're dead in the water without them. You could perhaps cut Angel's Grace (you shouldn't need it with the normal plan and your mana base doesn't support it well) and put in more copies of Mana Leak or Pact of Negation?

Also, Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds are surprisingly cheap and effective mana fixing.

You could also probably manage to make this modern-legal with a little effort, haha.

awesome. I was thinking about cutting Angel's Grace as it is pretty niche, but I didnt think about the other lands. I thought about making this modern legal, but then it gets more costly to actually remain effective.

Dark ritual is banned in Modern

Don't turn this into modern. Turn this into legacy :P drop the maniacs for Tendrils of Agony

thats my sideboard plan, actually. they expect another round of maniac, just to get smacked in the face with storm. IDK if I want to run straight storm, though I might make it my main plan, as it is seeming more reliable.

February 25, 2016 4:18 p.m.

You could run both maindeck, if they're running countermagic or removal, you can just win with storm

February 25, 2016 5:52 p.m.

Owlteeth says... #21

That's true, but then they get to see both plans and I have to swap some stuff from main to side. I might just see which is the strongest and have that main board.

February 25, 2016 5:58 p.m.

I think storm would be the better option, cause they're gonna side out all their removal in game 2. Giving you the clear for a maniac win

I get that feeling too. I will start testing the storm half of the deck when I get some free time. Thanks for the feedback.
