It plays like a jewel, very nice :) Perhaps Endbringer?

Thanks FAMOUSWATERMELON!

I actually ordered a playset of Endbringer after the PT because I was fascinated by it's potential but hadn't actually considered it here. Will play with it a bit and see if it's worth a slot!

I like it, too bad in selling off my GR Tron stuff, the Eye, 2 Newlamogs and Ugins went bye bye. Ugin is probably more of a SB card now or just a 1 of though. I could always trade for new ones, of course everyone is worried Eye will get banned, would be nice if it could just be restricted so it wouldn't kill Tron.

Yeah I hear you about Eye of Ugin. I actually think they could get away with just banning Temple, even though Eye is the more broken of the two. I am not optimistic, but I do think that Tron can survive without Eye. It removes some of Tron's inevitability, but also with the printing of Conduit of Ruin I don't think it is necessarily a deal breaker, it just means Tron is going to have to modify its list a bit.

We'll see. Fingers crossed its only Temple. :)

Conduit does seem pretty damn good here actually... I think I will try one alongside my 3 platinum angels.

Y not use Treasure Mage it tutors doesn't require tron to activated provides early blocker. And y aren't you running Mindslaver it's the most used win con by all utron decks.

UrbanAnathema says... #7

Two reasons. 1 Treasure Mage only gets artifacts so it can't get me Newlamog. Conduit is essentially a 5/5 Treasure Mage with Eye of Ugin stapled to it.

As for Mindslaver, I would rather win with 8 or even 6 mana than 12. So would rather have Conduit into Newlamog than Treasure into Mindslaver.

deltacobra says... #8

Ok then but y no wurmcoil

Because unfortunately both it and Mindslaver are 6CMC and thus out of Conduit's range. Conduit grabs either Newlamog, Sundering Titan, or Plat Angel and makes them cheaper to boot, all while putting a 5/5 on the field. Essentially it fills the role of Treasure Mage but sacrifices the Mindslaver and Wurmcoil in favor of Eldrazi wincons.

U Tron's vulnerability has always been aggro strategies as it is basically playing control until the late game. This allows you to still run a Control game with TKS and have viable beaters in the early game while still controlling your opponent.

Your basically swapping out Treasure Mage into Wurmcoil for Conduit into Newlamog and have TKS in the early/midgame as both a beater as well as hand disruption.

Yea it's def a interesting take I may playtest it against mine sometime I like the idea but how do u find it without the life gain from wurmcoil

February 22, 2016 9:11 p.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #11

To be honest, I haven't really missed it. The addition of Spellskite and TKS provide more midrange blockers that I have found you end up generally taking less damage and have less need for the life gain from Wurmcoil Engine.

In a vacuum, Wurmcoil is the better beater, but in an Eldrazi shell I think Conduit is the superior choice. Once you cut the Treasure Mages...you're basically committing to the Eldrazi approach for your beatsticks.

First of all this is a awesome Deck, I get the feeling that this will be one the strongest Eldrazi shells in a post eye meta.

my main query is, how have you been finding Spatial Contortion as a card? I can see it being pretty awesome in fast aggro meta but how does it fair in more midrange matchups?

otherwise its a really sweet deck and an auto +1 from me.

UrbanAnathema says... #13

Thanks Gaijin0. I agree and really think U Tron merged with some of the new Eldrazi tech is very strongly positioned moving forward post bans.

As for Spatial Contortion, it's great here. The deck is at its most vulnerable T1-T3. It's really useful to take out any small threats that could be problematic in that window. Against midrange it's still relevant to take out dorks, or anything else worth bolting and gives you the ability get rid of something that snuck through your counters, and save a Remand for something like Blood Moon. Lastly and at the very least, its a combat trick if necessary. Would not run more than 3 main board as its not all that strong of an overall card but colorless removal that isn't costing us life is exactly what we want. Excellent against aggro and to remove anything troublesome while we stableize. It's essentially in the Dismember slot that U tron would be running but we can't spare the lifeloss because we're not running Wurmcoil Engine so we use SC as our alternative. It works out pretty well overall.

Does Conduit of Ruin stack on top of Eye of Ugin if you were casting say Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger?

March 30, 2016 6:20 p.m.

907phringe says... #16

Also if you get a chance, I'm currently also working on a Tron deck. Currently mono green. Let me know hwat you think. Modern Urza-Nation

UrbanAnathema says... #17

It does indeed 907phringe as well as itself. It will likely be academic as Eye of Ugin will likely be banned on Monday.

March 30, 2016 11:26 p.m.

907phringe says... #18

I've heard talk of Eye of Ugin being banned. Have you seen any talk about it online at all UrbanAnathema

March 31, 2016 12:16 a.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #19

Yep. Almost certainly will be banned. When it is, if Eldrazi Temple isn't also banned we can sub in two of those.

March 31, 2016 12:23 a.m.

907phringe says... #20

Ban temple over eye. If you kill eye you ruin tron. What is the modern meta gonna go to?

March 31, 2016 2:35 a.m.

907phringe says... #21

If only conduit is left that will slow both decks down to even viable anymore.

March 31, 2016 2:37 a.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #22

Tron doesn't need Eye. We'll be fine.

RamblinMan says... #23

Blue tron with no Mindslaver?

May 3, 2016 4:15 p.m.

UrbanAnathema says... #24

That is correct. Since we're not running Treasure Mage, we're not running Mindslaver.

Pheardemons says... #25

What exactly is the tapped out tourny?

And I've been debatting turning my blue tron into an eldrazi shell. I've already added Thought-Knot Seer and Kozilek, the Great Distortion in my blue tron (Kozilek over Newlamog because I believe the draw is more relevant in my version), but wasn't quite sure where to go from there. This is definitely an interesting take and hope you don't mind if I use it as a base for mine if I decide to go that route.

Two ugins seem like a lot. When he hits the battlefield you should be able to wipe just about everything they have. Has two Ugins been worthwhile?
