Taigam's Scheming from Khans?? seems like it oculd be used. 2 mana might be too much but think it is an alright card.... also, why is Lim-Dul's Vault in side board? I don't know why you would side it in for anything.

@amep, did you read my sideboard strategy in the description? Read it and you'll know why Lim-Dul's Vault is in my sideboard and is also a key card.

i would do this because if you did then you can have more control over the board just in case that you do end up the one behind

You obviously put a lot of thought in this deck, I really like it. I would find very interesting in this strategy to have a Gitaxian Probe so you can see what kind of responses your opponent could have, and figuring out what way to bring it down, adjusting to it depending on what you discover. +1 from me, very cool deck.

Thanks, trombas! I have been playing something similar (well at least had it put-together) since the Premium Deck Series: Graveborn was released. I bought four of them, not knowing what I was getting into, but only recently did I decide to make it an actual competitive (and expensive) deck! It's so fun to play, I promise you that!

While Gitaxian Probe would be nice to view threats and strategy, I don't find it necessary, because that's what Force of Will and Daze in the mainboard are for! Protects yourself when going off and could also take care of any of an opponent's threats. The best thing to do is get out a Griselbrand, then use his activated ability to keep drawing into countermagic to keep your opponent on lock until you win!

Also, I'm running four Thoughtseize in my sideboard for when the Reanimate package leaves and the Show and Tell package comes in :)

True! Daze is such a great card too. Ahh... I wanted to get my hands on Graveborn too, bur the price was ridiculous.

Griselband is a such a powerhouse, it is perfect for Legacy. Must be a fun deck to play!

@trombas, maybe I got lucky with Graveborn. I knew what the Premium Deck Series was, but didn't know what Reanimator was all about at that time. I just liked foil and promo cards (still do) so I bought four so I could have a playset of everything. They were only $20-30 each at Wal-Mart when they were first released when I got them.

@Saljen, in place of the Tropical Island, do you think I should run another Island or another fetch like Verdant Catacombs? Thanks!

First of this deck is refreshingly fantastic!! I love that it will not only surprise most players but seems to sit pretty well in the current legacy meta, as it gets fairer and fairer all the time. So looking at your deck and your side board, there are a couple match ups you should be careful of. Reanimator being a fast combo deck and show and tell being equally fast mean that this deck has two natural enemies, storm which can blow you out of the water through your counter spells and, in my opinion, UW miracles could be a frustrating matchup. For me, improving your game 2 in both these matchups depends on what you do with the 2 of Pithing Needle. I think you should cut it because decks you are going to side it in against are decks you simply want to out race and matches where game temp are more important than permanent on board answers. In these matchups Echoing Truth is fantastic, bounce merfolk goblins the annoying lilly etc. on the endstep and then win on your turn, but the needle is just redundant. Same problem against miracles unless you turn 1 needle on top and by some miracle they don't have a force then its just a meh card.

TL;DRI think you should cut the needle slot and use it for a higher impact card. This card will ultimately be decided by your meta but in my opinon Flusterstorm because its hoses storm and lets you combo out after they desperately try and race you. To be honest, I don't think any 2 of will improve your miracles matchup except maybe and i really mean maybe a 2 of Counterspell to bolster your defenses. But the 2 of Flusterstorm feels way stronger to me than needle or anything else.

Hoped that helped and I love the deck.

@musicjunkie, thanks for your awesome input! I went against a miracles deck for fun and we were pretty even using only mainboard. Pithing Needle could be replaced and more Echoing Truth is always nice. But damn that Liliana of the Veil, if she hits, it almost instantly hates me out.

I've never played Storm, so I am inexperienced with that deck.

Do you like my sideboard idea though? Remove the Reanimation package for the Show and Tell package?

I think the transformative sideboard will do a lot for you and this deck. As far as lilly goes, its honestly a meta call. A good friend of mine plays high tide like every time our story has a legacy event so I am always wary of the storm players. I will offer a word of caution though, it can be tempting to just straight up side out the reanimator engine come game 2, but I would always stay open to the option of leaving it in if it won you game 1. You don't know what if any hate they have in their board and if you have taken game one and they dont have enough hate you could take game two without having to show off the transformation (or have the transformative sideboard scouted out at an event). Beyond that keep play testing, the deck does look really fun!

Foil is pretty good, it's free counter + dumper in one card. You can run Watery Grave to feed its island needs in addition to seas.

@musicjunkie, been debating over replacing the two Pithing Needle for the other two Echoing Truth as you had suggested. I think I will leave the two Pithing Needle alone for now. Pithing Needle also hits Karakas, Wasteland, and probably some other stuff I can't think of at the moment, on top of Liliana of the Veil and other planeswalkers.

I feel like sigarda is a much safer option for sb than grave titan. Like you can't remove her and it's hard to race a 5/5 flying... just my two cents

@bmbinder, I think I agree with you lol

@bmbinder, although, Grave Titan does provide chump blockers against Jund's Bloodbraid Elf and whatever else may be attacking.

musicjunkie says... #19

@shedidthistome if you are going show and tell route post board, the grave titan should be an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. Because show and tell relies on ending the game the turn after they cast show and tell. Otherwise you run out of steam

Have you tried Dark Ritual. It enables you to bring in creatures on turn one and is amazing ramp.

What do you think of my reanimator deck, A poor man's reanimator deck

@Spencerbot15, I can also reanimate creatures on turn one, no Dark Ritual necessary. I will check out your deck.

To be honest, I feel like not playing mainboard discard is a mistake- It makes the deck weak to other combo decks, weak to Force of Will, and weak to random pieces of disruption like Chalice of the Void.

Playing 3-4 Thoughtseize in the main would eliminate those weaknesses, potentially sideboarding Duress against combo decks like Storm. If you're not sure what to cut, I'd bin all the creatures except for the Griselbrands, as they're really not necessary most of the time and also can lead to some awkward draws.
