NOTE: There have been MAJOR CHANGES since uploading this description..... but I kept the description to preserve the history of this build. If you want to see the info for the current build view the updates.

UB Control Standard. The deck plays very well. After DTK giving us UB players anticipate, ultimate price and self inflicted wound UB Control has essentially no problems and I expect it to be top tier one or at least 2nd or 3rd tier 1 (Was previously bottom tier 1).

I am running 2 perilous vault instead of 1 (which was the standard build) as there are a lot of good dragons this set, thus making crux a somewhat unreliable boardwipe. HOWEVER, crux is rarely used to actually "boardwipe"... usually to kill 1 or 2 creatures. Perilous vault still is a bit better than before, among other advantages (evading protection, indestructable, regeneration, hitting obnoxious enchantments like Whip of Erebos and Outpost Seige, hitting planeswalkers, and having instant speed activation), all in all, resulting in a much more reliable boardwipe, and therefore justifying the two of.

Ultimate price is nice instead of disdainful which was usual fare for UB, because Disdainful was dead in some matchups, conveniently our already bad matchups, and therefore ultimate price helps nicely with that. We can no longer Counterspell Rhino's, but the price is worth it. Ultimate price also hits other stuff such as courser, stormbreath, roc, etc, making for a more consistent draw.

Anticipate (I'm surprised I lasted this long without mentioning it) is awesome. I have always loved cantrips and this is a particularly good one. It is way better than divination in the old build, because it is less mana, more consistent, and instant speed (thank God). It makes UB control even more consistent and results in finally, FINALLY, UB not having to run 28 lands. Now we can just run 27 which is a heck of a relief.

Last but not least: Self Inflicted wound. Wound is great. It hits Abzan Aggro and UW Heroic, 2 of our bad matchups (along with RDW), and makes for a great card. It evades protection and indestructibility, making it a lifesaver v. Heroic, and dealing 2 damage in addition to killing a creature is awesome.

Updates Add

The biggest problem with this deck was/is that the landbase was/is not consistent. The fetches and the basics provided a major problem for the consistency of the deck. I took out the flooded strands and a couple basics to put in 2 more temples and 2 copies of caves of koilos. Time will tell if this will work.

NOTE: I reset the discussion.
