For card draw I swear by Staff of Nin . It is so good. It can keep Snapcaster Mage from blinking, it can take out little weenie tokens. Also Griselbrand is a fantastic card. There is nothing to not like about him, Personally I'd go -3 Ring of Xathrid -4 Thrull Parasite +2 Staff of Nin + 4 Crypt Ghast +1 Griselbrand . Where Thrull Parasite is a decent one drop, you really don't have any benefit from his remove counters ability. You can really start to kick up your extort T2 and a T5 Griselbrand is devastating.

Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts she's such a whore card and fun to play in, it'll also force your opponents to use a kill spell on her while another more powerful creature continues on. Staff of Nin is just such a great card period. All in all very nice deck I like it +1 from me

First off, nice deck.

Secondly, I think running this without Obzedat, Ghost Council is a mistake, you need bomb cards that impact the board. Treasury Thrull is ok, but he does nothing for you right away. Even if they have an instant to kill Obzedat, Ghost Council , if he hits the board it's still a life shift of 4.

Also, my friends and other people think I'm weird for determining mana bases the way I do. But I honestly just lay all the cards out by colour. And I count the symbols. When it comes to cards like Vampire Nighthawk that have 2 of the same symbol, I actually count it, in terms of totals, as 3 of that symbol instead of just 2, because you NEED that mana type or its a dead card in your hand. Using my system your main deck is ordering you at 8 swamp symbols and 6 plains symbols. So I'd probably shift out a plains and add a swamp for your mana base.

Furthermore, you should either consider Debt to the Deathless or dropping at least 2 lands. (Also a playset of Godless Shrine wouldn't hurt either). Running 24 land in a dual colour deck is alright, the problem is in your current set up you have no X cards, therefore late game if you've been controlled out of most of your creatures and your extort capability is non-existent then all of your mana is just sitting there, so having options is definitely nice.

That's my dime's worth.

Thing is Obzedat, Ghost Council is difficult to come by unless I order it off the internet. Second yes, he shifts health, but so do all my other cards. Third he is expensive in both cost and Mana. Fourth, I'm not saying he is a bad card, but as most people use him for his blink/shift ability he can't block. Treasury Thrull when out on the field: adds an extort trigger, is a blocker and attacker, gives me more to cast every turn when I run into Mana pockets. So while ghost dad is Mana compatible and a powerful card he just doesn't fit in my deck.

And I had planned on adding Godless Shrine however, with the way the site generates playhands, I don't get an accurate representation of how my hands will look with them in there.

And as for your last suggestion Debt to the Deathless is expensive as hell and if I rely on that then I've probably already lost. Not only that but how would I fit it in?

Thanks for your input and suggestions though and the compliment.

If we're talking bomb cards, Pontiff of Blight could work wonders. Those extort triggers stack. Suddenly your 2-drops can be extorted for 8, no problem.

You might want to take out a land and bring it down to 23 or 22 at the least. your CMC is only 2 and when play testing I tend to get mana flooded a lot.

So you playtested? How did it do? I took your advice because I've been playtesting it too.

I love extort, but cut Ethereal Armor for maybe something for removal or even something that lets you view the enemy hand that is low cmc like Duress just to get ride of some of there removal

Ethereal Armor does so much in this deck. Add it to a Vampire Nighthawk and you have removal on a stick. Put any other of the enchantments out and it gains power.

Re your comments on Obzedat: True regarding the coming by him. I was lucky to pull my 2 copies during the prerelease and I've been solid with it ever since. Your other cards do shift life but they need to be paid into to have it happen. And while most people play with Obzedat, Ghost Council that way, you've got that choice. Sometimes he's a nice body to leave simply to force your opponent to use their mana to deal with him instead of doing what their actual plan is.

Pontiff of Blight isn't bad, but he is expensive as hell and dies to Ultimate Price . Nothing worse than tapping out to get out a body that you don't get to make full use of until your next turn, only for them to swiftly deal with it for cheap. He's a bomb in Limited where removal isn't so easily gotten a hold of, but Constructed... I just don't see it.

One sideboard card I've been testing with and it has the potential for results and can help stabilize and even stall out if you're getting mana flooded. But Crypt Incursion is a decent enough card. Obviously better suited for mill, but if you're getting removed or have been doing a decent job of removal yourself then 3 life per creature card from a single graveyard isn't the worst thing in the world.

Debt to the Deathless is an expensive card yes, that's why it's a late game body. It's a card you hold on to so you've always got something. For it I'd probably drop a Ring of Xathrid and a Treasury Thrull .

The thing is, yes it does seem expensive, but remember every point of mana put into X equals 2 life for you and -2 life for them.

Do you own Crypt Ghast or Rhox Faithmender ? As either of them are also great tools in W/B life shift decks.

I think Blood Baron of Vizkopa is the missing link "Bomb" card for this deck. It's hard to see a deck without Crypt Ghast , but I can see it working without him, but he would allow extort bombs.

Since extorting seems to be the main source of damage, Underworld Connections might be something to look at too, since it has synergy with Ethereal Armor and will help you draw a bit more cards to extort with.

Ethereal on Nighthawk is on of my favorite pairings. +1

Not too sure about Treasury Thrull , I think I'd be more inclined to have a couple in the sideboard instead. I would probably swap them for some Orzhov Charm just for the counter function. Nothing like countering their counter spells for two mana. Like a few have mentioned, this deck cries out for two Crypt Ghast . Works so well with a lot of extort on the field and lets you bring out your bombs earlier. Two Obzedat, Ghost Council would go down a charm for the end game. I also prefer Skeletal Grimace if I'm honest.
