Most of the Golgari decks are going to be fast, really getting started on turn 3-4, so you need the creature kill early. And Farseek seems to be the best choice for taking something out for those

Narwek my deck does have 2 ramps, Elves of Deep Shadow and Crypt Ghast so there are othe ramps besides Farseek in these blocks. :)
dcarpntr why would any one use Dark Confidant when Underworld Connections is much cheaper, and legal for this challenge???

Just for my own reference; TheGreatBooster and his deck Ravnica Revisited - The Swarm was accepted as well.

While were all still here, you guys mind checking out the deck I made a little while ago. Seems to be working fine but I wanted some other input All For One, And One For All. Playing it tonight with some friends

@APPLE01DOJ: Dark Confidant is faster, less mana intense, doesn't lock down a mana source, and is also legal for this challenge. He does however come with a price-tag of around 55 dollars, as does a lot of ridiculously powerful cards; that's why I created a price limitation to begin with.

u forgot to mention "also kills u quicker and ur opponent will know what just entered ur hand" "U got an Abrupt Decay maybe I'll use an Instant to take out your Lotleth Troll instead of summoning my Vampire Nighthawk . I still think it's a poor choice when compared to Underworld Connections . :/ just my opinion though. ...and that's the thing. The opinionated are so ...opinionated. ;)

@ Dallie You should deckcycle this deck and see how many views it gets :)
June 25, 2013 4:46 p.m.
You also don't essentially have to pay 1 mana to draw the card either with DC.

Dark Confidant
costs around $60 because it is played in many top tier decks in both the Modern and Legacy formats.
Underworld Connections
costs around $0.50 because it is only played in an occasional standard deck sideboard, or in an EDH deck when someone doesn't want to shell out $4 for the superior Phyrexian Arena
(I've done this multiple times with my EDH decks because I'm cheap).
I think you undervalue just how good Dark Confidant
is. It's an amazing card.

I do, because personally I prefer to use the mana expensive Staff of Nin . I know the CMC of 6 is a turn off. But with a ramp or two, u shouldn't have trouble getting it out by the time u actually need it.
However I will say, the swarm of people defending the card have convinced me it does have more worth than I give it. ...deff not 50-60$ worth though :/ especially in an environment filled with Abrupt Decay

Narwek: Did you mean Ultimate Guild Challenge: Golgari, by 8bitJesus?

Nope, the deck we are posting all of these comments on :)

Oh right, your opponent was playing 58 Island s and 2 Reach Through Mists , wasn't he? You decked him out. Also, dark confidant is 50-60 because of top tier modern decks, not modern at this level. In a top tier deck the cmc of your spells will top off at around 3 or 4. Underworld connections comes out a turn later, you have to essentially use 1 mana for its ability, and I'm fairly sure people see a 2 power body as an advantage. In aggro bobby fits much better than Underworld Connections here, it's definitely not worth half of your deck's budget for one copy though. Oh yeah Phyrexian Arena > Underworld Connections

I agree, but I didn't even know Phyrexian Arena existed until this thread. Sooo :) glad I know about it now, and will be incorporating it into some of my decks.
