My Take on Kaalia of the Vast I have had her for years and am constantly fine tuning the deck, Kaalia will never be competitive but I believe I am reaching the most optimized she can become.

A keepable hand is usually 2-3 Lands, a form of protection for Kaalia, a mana rock or 2, and gas (a big demon, dragon or angel.)

The deck is cram filled with tutors, I'm not going to bother explaining most of them, however entomb is perhaps one of the greatest in the deck. It is able to grab you reanimation targets and it can bin anger on turn 1 with a fetch to give your team haste, or in a pinch it can bin runehorn hellkite which will get you a new hand, which in another pinch can be a beater if you need it to be. Not to mention how much better runehorn gets when you have smothering tithe out.

Cloudstone Curio is a card im still playing around with, essentially im trying to get extra value out of some of my creatures, like Rakdos the Defiler so I can attack with him again without sacing half my non demon permanents, or rune-scarred demon so I can tutor again. For those of you whp dont know, when you cheat something into play with Kaalia that creature skips the "declare attacker" step, which means that the "when this creature attacks" or "this creature can only attack alone" clause is ignored entirely. This is the point of having Cloudstone in the deck.

Armagaeddon and Static Orb are cards you typically play after you have Kaalia out. Once she is out lands aren't really that important to you and the only thing you need to untap is Kaalia.

When I play Cavern of Souls I name "Clerics" This makes Grand Abolisher, both Moms and Kaalia uncounterable.

I mentioned earlier that Kaalia will never be competitive, but that doesnt mean you can't play with the cEDH players using her she has the power, she just doesnt any ways to stop a turn 1 fish hulk win. That being said I wouldn't reccomend playing this version among inexperienced players the stax effects and mass land destruction may come as unenjoyable play experience for them.

Kaalia is a glass cannon so she either smashes face or does nothing, the deck is quite weak to blood moon effects, and edict effects like Gravepact or Diabolic Edict. Obviously she isn't deceptively strong, people are going to target you hard because she is scary, so that is another weakness.

That's my take on Kaalia! I've spent years fine tuning her and I'd love to hear your opinions and suggestions, please feel free to post comments and ask questions about some cards that you are unsure about their place in the deck.
