A man stood with his back to you. He had an elegant and firm pose, but you could sense he was meditating deeply.

You didn't want to break his concentration so you turned around, trying not to shuffle your feet. It was then that you saw his face, as he had moved quickly towards you and asked you the question :

" Are you Sarah Connor ?", he asked with an accent that seemed very foreign to you.

You didn't have time to answer, he already knew the answer from the glint of doubt in your eyes. He was gone before you felt the gush of air from his departure.

It was then that you knew this mercenary would never stop before he met his muse, Sarah Connor. That man, as you would learn from your ulterior voyages, was Toshiro Umezawa, the Terminat-, the Hireling.

Following an idea that has been thrown around in my playgroup, the deck is divided into two main parts :

1. Instant speed removal of all kinds that can be reused with Toshiro Umezawa's ability. The focus is really on -X/-X removal, to deal with indestructible and edict-style cards to deal with hexproof :) Btw, Spellbinder . Just... Spellbinder :)

2. A Voltron-like part to boost Toshiro Umezawa and make him a force to be reckoned with. I went the equipment-voltron route, protecting them with Darksteel Forge and including a nice combo with Darksteel Plate + Worldslayer (tutorable !). I included other creatures too as a means of unattaching shroud an reattach afterwards. I don't know of any toher work-around :/

I think most mono-black decks tend to go the Altar of Dementia + Grave Pact route, but I like having friends and keeping them, thank you very much ! So I went with this route, hoping to bring on an unblockable 21/21 lifelink general on the table while removing threats. Also, Black devotion cards are not that effective, so no Gray Merchant of Asphodel...

Also included are some utility cards like Caged Sun, Mimic Vat and Crypt Ghast .Mana sinks are Geth, Lord of the Vault , Kiku, Night's Flower and Chainer, Dementia Master to steal creatures for their ETB abilities or as big fat blockers.

What the deck is lacking, in my opinion :

1. Counterspells, obvioulsy... The only ones I know of in mono-black are Imp's Misschief and Withering Boon. I can use it twice and I can tutor him, but it's not enough since the commander becomes a target quite quickly !

2. A way to bring back instants from exile that is not too punishing. Mirror of Fate and Death Wish as dISSECTIONER proposed are a bit out of touch I think with the general theme (still, thanks for the proposition !)

3. A way to bring back artifacts from the yard. I was thinking of scrolling through Daretti, Scrap Savant's deck for this one

4. Ways to up my life total, since black instants and Chainer, Dementia Master are really taxing on that life though !

I'd be glad to hear your propositions :) But remember, I'd like to keep it a little bit on budget, are we ok with that ? And skip a doodle doo as they say in America (might be I watched too many bad movies...)
