Best 100$ Budget "Tier-1 Styled" 5 Color Mana Base

Commander / EDH* Budget Casual Multiplayer Primer Theme/Gimmick

Rzepkanut

Maybeboard

This list includes Fetch Lands as well as Dual Lands with Basic Land Types just like Tier-1 Mana Bases! It's quite a bit slower than Tier-1, but it's hard to complain when you're saving so much money to play a casual format like EDH.

We welcome our new "Triome" lands ( Savai Triome ) in Ikoria!! They are upgrading the old cycling duals ( Fetid Pools ), bringing so much flexibility and consistency along with them. Currently they are destroying my 100$ budget, but they are so good its too hard to resist.

The new Zendikar mdfc duals might make the list too. Currently they are affordable.

Along with fitting in the budget, all the lands in the mana base fall into at least one of these five categories:

Actual Basic Land:

Always Comes Into Play Untapped Duals

  • Enemy Pain Duals.
  • This category is in place currently to balance the color pie and speed up the mana base overall.

Provides Any Color Mana, Untapped If Possible :

  • Specialty Multi-Lands and Honorable Mentions.
  • The best EDH dual land is Command Tower .

Lands in Graveyard Synergy:

Basic Land Type Synergy:

  • Check Duals, Fetches, Cycling Duals, and Battle Duals.
  • Works with effects that care about land types like Farseek and Skyshroud Claim .
  • See the "Why These Lands?" panel above. If the lands you are thinking about don't fit those criterion, that's why they're not here already.

  • The shock lands are reprinted for standard, so they can probably be included since their prices are dropping so much. Obviously include them if you get any. They are definitely strict upgrades on basically any of the Dual lands in this Mana base, they just usually cost twice as much money.

  • Taplands: x14 or 35%
  • Checkland: x10 or 25%
  • Untapped: x15 or 37.5%
  • Fetch Only: x10 or 25%

  • Plains: x19 or 47.5%
  • Mountain: x19 or 47.5%
  • Swamp: x18 or 45%
Number of Lands which produce or fetch:

  • : x26 or 65% of Mana Base
  • : x25 or 62.5%
  • : x25 or 62.5%
  • : x25 or 62.5%
  • : x25 or 62.5%
  • : x7 or 17.5%
There are 8 Total Slots Available for a 5 Card Land Cycle with a 40 card Mana Base.

"Allied" Color Cycles: 1 Slots

  • Mirage Tap-Fetch
  • Battle for Zendikar Check Duals

"Enemy" Color Cycles: 2 Slots

  • Innistrad Check Duals
  • Apocalypse Pain Lands

"Wedge" Color Cycles: 1 Slot

  • Ikoria Triomes

Basic Land: 1 Slot

Misc. Multi Color Lands: 2 Slots

I have included a bunch of "Honorable Mentions" in the maybeboard. Many of which are potentially better than a bunch of the "Specialty Multi Lands" that are in the list right now, depending on your deck. For example, Spire of Industry needs artifacts to be good, Thran Quarry needs creatures, etc. Use the list to customize the mana base to maximize synergy with your deck.
The price fluctuates constantly, and it was also much cheaper when I first made this list. Price breakdown does not include x5 basic lands.

  • Approx. Total for 35 Cards: $100.00
  • Avg. Price Per Card: $2.85

The honorable mentions have even more budget options for some of the more pricey specialty multi-lands. The check lands being reprinted in Dominaria should lower their prices eventually too.

I hope they finish a couple of the incomplete land cycles we are using here soon to really clean this list up. Specifically the Mirage tap fetches and the Ikoria Triomes.

I really want them to reprint shocklands and the good fetches and OG dual lands like a million times until they are cheapo and we can get as many as we want to use forever.

Any budget friendly suggestions are much appreciated! Especially when suggestions are accompanied by reasons and ideas of what to swap out! Thanks.
