{G}{U} Introducing Arixmethes {G}{U}

When i saw that they were going to print Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle as a card, with an ability in perfect flavour with his/her (its?) lore, I knew I had to create a Commander deck around it.

So what's better than one giant monster of the deep?

...How about a whole boat-load of them!
I've collected some of the most disgusting, slippery and horrifying creatures of the deep in this tribal sea-monsters deck.

{G}{U} General Strategy {G}{U}

The plan is to ramp a lot (Growth Spiral, Farseek, Rampant Growth, Explore), get your commander on the field and just dump these giant fish and sea-monsters on the board to overwhelm your opponents.

Add in board wipes/returns (Whelming Wave, Cyclonic Rift) to counter those pesky aggressive decks.

Throw in some merfolk utility (Prime Speaker Zegana, Kiora's Follower, Tatyova, Benthic Druid,Thrasios, Triton Hero) as well as some other nice-to-have cards, (Voidslime, Plasm Capture, Blue Sun's Zenith, Mana Drain) to foil your opponents plans and expedite their demise.

Finally, use one of the many finishers (Overwhelming Stampede, Deepchannel Mentor, Finale of Devastation) to swim in for the win!

{G}{U} Combos and Interactions {G}{U}

• Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle + Prime Speaker Zegana Or Rishkar's Expertise = Play either of these cards when you only have one slumber counter on your commander, stack the trigger so that Arixmethes becomes a creature before the spells resolves, and you get a ton of cards!

• Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle + Whelming Wave Or Slinn Voda, the Rising Deep = Removes most if not all of your opponents creatures and lets your commander go ham!

• Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle + Kiora's Follower Or Garruk Wildspeaker = Multiple untaps of your living land for loads of extra mana!
