Grim Backwoods is definitely an interesting idea. However, I much prefer card:Altar's Reap, and I would like to keep all the colored mana I can get. xD

you already own gatecrash cards? or is this just cards from the spoilers? like n idea for a deck? anyway i like it alot !

clorbager haha yeah, this is just from the spoilers. Once the set actually comes out, some additional switches will probably be made. I'm not 100% sure I want to keep Elusive Krasis , for example, if something more fitting is announced.
And thanks. :3

i just pre-ordered a box of gatecrash, i didnt get into magic till the middle of rtr and i felt way behind, now i hope to be as up to speed as everyone else. hope this deck wins you some games! i might copy a few cards like your young wolf and Zameck Guildmage combo, so awesome! alters reap is a great card as well.

No problem, feel free to make your own version. I would be flattered. _

That mana base is problematic. I don't have many suggestions, however, other than shocklands. Maybe Chromatic Lantern .

I wouldn't mind putting in some shocklands considering this is a prototype ideal version. I'm just not really sure how many would be good, considering I need to keep some basic lands for Caravan Vigil .
January 8, 2013 9:49 a.m.
If you get enough, Farseek is a suitable replacement, though it doesn't combo with dying stuff.

Yeah, I think I might like to stick with Caravan Vigil , because of the smaller cost, the fact that I can get forests, and that it combos well with the undying and puts land untapped onto the field. Farseek , however, would let me fetch dual-lands...

Not sure on these ideas, but cards to consider are possibly a 1 or 2 of on Prime Speaker Zegana. Though you do already have card draw with card:Altar's Reap and the guildmage. My other thought was possibly run Rapid Hybridization . It could flash in blockers and get you undying counters, further advancing the evolve dudes. If you need some hard removal after a board wipe when you have no creatures or for Obzedats or other behemoths, it could also be worth it. Once again, not sure on those.
I do like the deck. I was happy to see Demonlord of Ashmouth and Vorapede being put to good use. Good luck!

I'd say maybe taking out the Syncopate and replace it with Arbor Elf and throwing in a few of the Shocklands would be very beneficial to this deck.
January 10, 2013 10:44 p.m.
If you are on a budget, I suggest Kraken Hatchling instead of Elusive Krasis . For one U you get a blocker that is near guaranteed to pump most creatures with Evolve. May want to consider one or two Tree of Redemption as well for the same reason.

I think Corpsejack Menace would be fun in here. He'd add counters on evolve creatures the turn he comes into play. I like where this deck is going, cool concept!

Woah, lots of comments! Thanks, guys!
@bhrusson0; Zegana might be nice, but like you said I think I have enough card draw so I don't think she would be adding a whole lot. I definitely like the idea of Rapid Hybridization , though. It can kill an undying creature... then the undying creature comes back, and I also get a 3/3, both of which can pump my evolve!
@IkeroFaron; I honestly think Syncopate will be more useful than Arbor Elf . I really don't need too much more mana acceleration, considering my average CMC is only 2.1. And I already have a few shocklands.
@GaryAlfred; I'm not sure that Elusive Krasis is going to be out of budget, considering it's just an uncommon and uncommons RARELY get higher than three dollars at the very most in standard. Tree of Redemption might be a nice evolve prompter and defensive card, but it's taking up space that I could probably use to further the strategy better.
@CrimsonKing; I didn't even think about Corpsejack Menace . That would be bonkers with evolve, but my only worry is that it will make it more difficult to make my undying creatures undie-able again. I'll put some thought into it, maybe give it a playtest.
Now I just need to think of cards to swap out... xD
January 10, 2013 11:40 p.m.
I would just take Black out of the deck and replace card:Altar's Reap and Demonlord of Ashmouth for Think Twice and Revive
Mana would be more stable, you keep drawing anyways with the Zameck Guildmage and its probably going to get nuked 90% of the times
January 14, 2013 2:52 a.m.
Once all the spoilers for gatecrash are released, there will (hopefully) be a better card then Elusive Krasis :P.

Yeah, buffy, that's kind of what I'm hoping for as well. For now it's just kind of there as another evolve card, but I'm not all that crazy about it either.

That's definitely true, though I do like the 0/4 aspect of Krasis, making him trigger other evolve creatures and be a nice blocker.

Alright, I've playtested against this, and I have to say this is the COOLEST deck idea. It lost, but it's still REALLY COOL!

schmelonater, haha, thanks! Glad you liked it. I really just made it more to be fun than necessarily competitive.

I think the problem that you may be having with competitiveness is you are TOO focused on sacrificing your own stuff. Once you do that you kinda miss out on the fact that you can swing into a bad situation and come out on top and you also miss out on your resilience to board wipes.
I like card:Altar's Reap + Undying as much as anyone (hell I regularly used Undying Evil + card:Altar's Reap to squeak my Grave Titan out from under an Oblivion Ring trigger) but with 6 cards that force you to sacrifice and 3x Rapid Hybridization you are taking a lot of pressure off of your opponent by killing your stuff once already. Zameck Guildmage can do some amazing things but he can't do THAT much.

Ohthenoises, I definitely see your point there. As much as I love Demonlord of Ashmouth , I may end up taking black out.

Grim Backwoods is pretty handy in this deck. Sacrifice Undying creatures to draw a card, then remove +1/+1 with Zameck Guildmage
