Undying Ooze

This is an update of RGB Undying Ooze (Standard). It's designed to utilize the synergy between the Undying mechanic and Gutter Grime 's trigger. Since Scars of Mirrodin and M12 have cycled out since I last touched the list, I need to find some replacements for the cards I can no longer use.

Hex Parasite was a lynchpin of the old deck, allowing me some Undying recursion to potentially fuel the Ooze engine infinitely. I needed to find a replacement that still allows me to remove +1/+1 counters. My choices boiled down to Korozda Gorgon , Ooze Flux, Thrull Parasite , and Zameck Guildmage.

Korozda Gorgon and Thrull Parasite would easily allow me to stay within the same colors, but both of them have their drawbacks for this deck. Korozda Gorgon takes too long to get onto the field, which makes it somewhat difficult to keep chump blocking with Undying weenies until Gutter Grime comes out (my best way to deal with early aggro). Thrull Parasite is okay, but only being able to use it once per turn is not so appealing. The mandatory life payment doesn't help its case.

Ooze Flux is a great option for this deck (and fits the theme), but I kept feeling like it isn't good enough on its own. Combining it with Zameck Guildmage gives me multiple ways to keep up my Undying recursion, allows me to bring strong oozes onto the field even faster, and gives me easy card advantage.

So the deck has been rebuilt with a heavy Simic feel to it. The red elements have been toned down, but they persist due to the power that Pyreheart Wolf and Dynacharge bring to an army. There isn't as much direct removal, but hopefully the beefy Ooze army (and the splash of counterspells) will overcome anything my opponent throws in front of me.

Big changes to the deck. Took it to constructed FNM, the red didn't offer help whatsoever. Not a single win, and the few times the deck took off we went to time. Discovered the deck wasn't focused enough, I was trying to do too many things at once. Taking some advice I received at the event, I have decided to swap out the red for black and go for more of a Golgari theme with blue to support it. This is entirely theorycrafted, so I have no clue what the power of this new version would be. I'm still probably trying to get the deck to do too many things. Will playtest as soon as I can.
