This is my take of a little Selesnya deck with a twist. I made the deck for the primary purpose of combining
Fabled Hero
with
Enlarge
. This can (and has) resulted in a turn 4 win, if you're lucky.
Gods Willing
provides some very necessary protection and triggers heroic for the Hero.
The rest of the deck is centered around playing a cheap creature with a big body, giving it
Unflinching Courage
, and riding it to victory. Most of the aggro decks just can't deal with creatures bigger than their own (RG monsters and mono R in particular struggle against
Unflinching Courage
on a cheap creature). Of course,
Unflinching Courage
on a
Fabled Hero
can be amazing, too.
If the game drags out or you start losing slowly,
Archangel of Thune
has often pulled me back from the brink. Stacking their abilities with
Unflinching Courage
on another creature can be quite ridiculous.
The deck's worst match-up is dedicated control (mono B, esper, Azorius). Against one of these decks, a quick start is the best hope, followed by a surprise
Fabled Hero
+
Enlarge
. Protecting the Hero with
Gods Willing
and
Rootborn Defenses
is paramount.
Fade into Antiquity
is a decent removal for
Underworld Connections
or any of the Gods (which are problematic blockers for this deck).
Arbor Colossus
has a great body, although it might be somewhat difficult to cast. It solves dragon and demon problems.
Time to Feed
is something I've just started to look into as removal against mono-U in particular.
Future Directions: I would like to replace the
Call of the Conclave
s with
Fleecemane Lion
so that I can use
Brave the Elements
effectively. I would also probably swap out
Giant Growth
for more
Selesnya Charm
.
