I love this deck, and you will probably appreciate it too. Any suggestions would be appreciated, i can't think of any other way to streamline or make the deck any nastier then it currently is
+1s appreciated
I present to you
Unholy Clerics
___________
Components:
Cabal Archon
.
Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim
are your sac engines
Order of Whiteclay
brings the sac-ed cleric back, and taps for the high priest
Rotlung Reanimator
is the zombie generator
Vault of the Archangel
makes zombies tokens a terrifying force
Skirsdag High Priest
summons Demons
Pious Evangel
and
Drana's Emissary
are the life and life loss. they are annoying enough that they usually become targets, sparing me and my other clerics from spells.
Children of Korlis
a self sacrificing cleric, also cancels life loss from shepherd of rot.
Shepherd of Rot
is the diamond in the rough. His ability is brutal.
Unearth
and
Misery Charm
are revival. The charm can also doubles as back up damage spell or a sacrifice fix (if i don't have my cabal archon out and need to get the ball rolling)
Grave Pact
is just cruel
Athreos, God of Passage
is pretty straightforward
Mortify
is the creature or enchantment destruction.
(I'd intend to replace mortify with
Vindicate
eventually)
Game play:
The clerics are usually viewed as very non threatening, until the pieces fall into place . when they do, the clerics suddenly take off and never land.
Once the ball is rolling, its very hard to stop this deck. It will consistently do three things in a single turn: gain life, make opponents lose life, and produced zombie and demon tokens. I don't even bother to attack with creatures usually, and just win by life loss.
Pious Evangel
,
Drana's Emissary
and
Cabal Archon
tip the scale in my favor for
Shepherd of Rot
's ability.
Children of Korlis
if around cancels any life loss from the shepherd.
I usually have a
Rotlung Reanimator
or a
Skirsdag High Priest
in play before i sac a cleric with
Cabal Archon
. The zombie token adds to the shepherd damage, the 5/5 flying demon is tough blocker or a intimidating attacker. If i get lucky i have a
Order of Whiteclay
in play to bring back the cleric i sac-ed with cabal archon, and taps himself for the high priest's ability.
Its so much fun to sac clerics to summon demons and zombies and just cause devastating effects along the way with
Shepherd of Rot
and
Grave Pact
.
I've never played competitively with this deck, so i'm not sure how it well it would do, I think it would hold its own. I play in causal multi-player games. (usually 3 or 5 people in a game). I would like try playing in a more competitive setting with this deck (tournaments and one and one matches).
The sideboard i put together seems pretty solid. Again i don't play competitively, 98% of my decks i play regularly don't have sideboards. Any suggestions would be appreciated
