Cleric Deck #4 (of 5)
What's better then having one Scion of Darkness in play?
How about 2 or 3? Its possible with an...
Unholy Sacrifice
Components:
Dark Supplicant
makes the unholy sacrifice summoning the Scion
Mother of Runes protects the scion, makes the scion unblockable, or protects the supplicant.
Benevolent Bodyguard
is protection for either the scion or the supplicant, as well as cheap CMC fodder for the sacrifice price to summon the scion
Cathedral Sanctifier
is cheap life gain to stall until a supplicant is found, then becomes fodder for the sacrifice
Order of the Stars
is cheap protection and fodder for the sacrifice.
Immortal Servitude
cast with X= 1 and you bring back 70% of the creatures in the deck
No Rest for the Wicked
sac for easy revival to your hand With no mana commitment to the ability you can recast the clerics immediately afterward due to cheap 1 CMC.
Second Sunrise instant revival, make the sacrifice all over again next turn.
There are 3 clerics that usually survive the unholy sacrifice:
Suture Priest gain life after re-summoning or reviving the clerics, and poke/annoy your opponent. He becomes a target sparing the supplicant or scion from attacks.
Rotlung Reanimator just makes the supplicant a double threat, in additon to a 6/6 trampler, you now have 3 2/2 zombies adding up to 12 damage with 4 attackers.
Skirsdag High Priest
after sacrificing 3 clerics, re-cast using no rest for the wick, or revive with servitude or sunrise and tap 2 untapped creatures to summon a 5/5 flying demon.
Mortify is pretty self explanatory, it stops unwanted creatures, providing targets for the scion of darkness's damage trigger. also can destroy troublesome enchantments, especially any that might target the scion.
Game play:
It is possible with an ideal hand of 2
Dark Supplicant
, 1 swamp, 1 plains, and 1 other white one cmc cleric to have a 2nd turn Scion of darkness in play.
But that's not nearly as fun as having multiple copies of scion of darkness in play.
Which is easily made possible with
Immortal Servitude
No Rest for the Wicked
, or Second Sunrise after using the
Dark Supplicant
If you don't have a supplicant in your starting hand, the
Cathedral Sanctifier
and the
Order of the Stars
keep you alive and stall until you draw one. If you have any Scion of Darkness in your hand you can simply cycle him to up the chances of drawing a supplicant
Usually if i don't have a supplicant, i end up building up a army of cleric fodder and usually a
No Rest for the Wicked
in play, making the board very ripe for the unholy sacrifice.
The deck can function with 2 lands, but 3 is ideal, and 4 is optimal allowing the use of
Immortal Servitude
.
