Yeah that usually makes people enjoy the deck more!

That makes sense. It's definitely one of my weaker areas.

I didn't have too great of a description for a while but I finally just took the time out to make it. This still needs some work and before I feature it when BFZ comes out I'll expand a bit on what I have.

Cavern of Souls does well in an ally deck.

Nef says... #5

It's only in the maybe board because I can't afford it right now xD

September 20, 2015 7:17 a.m.

you may wanna run Reveillark as a 2 of instead of march from the tomb, and a Cloudshift as 3 maybe might be really useful, especially when flickering Kabira Evangel to protect your guys very suddenly without them being able to do much about it.

DERPLINGSUPREME - I'd probably run Return to the Ranks over Reveillark. I like March from the Tomb because it can get back important creatures that return might not be able to get. Reveillark also costs 1 extrta mana if I want to activate it right away.

September 20, 2015 1:09 p.m.

you do realize that the ONLY thing out of range of reveillark is your SINGLE Lantern Scout, right?

Johanson69 says... #9

You do realize Reveillark is far less flexible and efficient than Return to the ranks, right?

September 20, 2015 2:57 p.m.

@Johanson69 I guess. personally I'd just still be running it as a 1-of in case of board wipes.

Nef says... #11

The others are cheaper, and can get me more stuff. Idk it just seems inefficient.

I think it's fine not having complete synergy. I run Jwari Shapeshifter in the main even though it can have negative repercussions if there are no creatures on the board when using CoCo or Return to the Ranks. Its still a great card that provides it's own kind of synergy. I think Lantern Scout has that same potential. I like Reveillark for what it does after board sweeps, but it is pricey though. Kinda hard to have it out by turn 4 of the opponents when they would cast a boardsweep.

September 20, 2015 7:09 p.m.

Liking the new look :) As far as the landbase is concerned, two less Godless Shrine and some fetches would probably help. Or do you just not have the cards?

I don't have the cards.. xD

For your sideboard: Remove Kor Firewalker for Auriok Champion. Hell, put that champion up to 3 or 4. The only decks Auriok Champion will not help you in is UW/x control, affinity, scapeshift, boggles, bloom titan, infect and Tron. It is excellent sideboard card that can easily be the tide of whether you win or lose the game. Merfolk, elves, RDW, Twin, Delver, Junk, Jund, Zoo, Tokens, Living End ... all start to feel the pain of Auriok Champion.

Remove Leyline of Sanctity. It no longer helps you out against RDW. If you need anti-discard, get yourself Eternal Witness. In fact, that should be in your mainboard as a 3 or 4 of, just for the ability to recur a Collected Company when you get it out.

If you want anti-wrath: Athreos, God of Passage. You have enough to be able to proc its devotion relatively easily. There is no better anti-wrath card than something you can instant speed etb with Collected Company in response to a wrath, and something that can be an aggressive finisher on its own.

Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Spellskite are cards to consider when dealing with delver, twin and boggles.

A few more Kataki, War's Wage is needed to give affinity the finger each and every single time. You don't need Creeping Corrosion. Just the Kataki, it does effectively the same thing and is much more consistent. In this and Spellskite, Nature's Claim can go.

From the mainboard ... remove Hardened Scales. It's too win more and will not help you in top deck or late game. I suggest Abrupt Decay over it, as it will greatly help you out against any deck. It is either that or AEther Vial, however you have no combat tricks like Fiend Hunter or Flickerwisp, so that won't do you any good.

Dont forget fattale, you're giving suggestions on the deck, not directives. Personally, I completely disagree with you on hardened scales but that's probably because you haven't seen how good the synnergy is there. I've won many dailies thx to that card. If you look at my list

Hey femme, thanks for that sideboard help. I'll be overhauling it. I had Nature's Claim to deal with Torpor Orb because a player will most likely pay 1 to keep that thing in play. Auriok Champion is good but I kinda can't afford that many of it. Athreos is actually quite interesting. I will see about him in the sideboard for sure. I am trying to acquire a couple Spellskites because of how good they are but I just can't afford them sadly. They are something I really need and want though. I'm gonna make my sideboard what I want to acquire not what I actually have. And I think Hardened Scales is an important one drop that the ally deck so badly needs and helps buff our creatures to compare to other deck's big hitters.

aubman02 what are you thoughts on the Eternal Witnesses?

September 20, 2015 9:41 p.m.

MadKat says... #20

Athreos is pretty cool. I played with it for a while and got away from it for one reason or another.

I haven't tried eternal witness.....I can see it helping with control. You can make it uncounterable. Return to the ranks could work better potentially. Or, you could play it with return to the ranks, since you can bring it back to your hand too. It's probably worth trying.

I really like Abrupt Decay i need to buy those too x.x I'm gonna start with the one in the mainboard.

Eternal Witness generally doesn't bring back a creature. It brings back either Collected Company or a removal spell.

I also forgot that you die like, immediately to GR tron and other decks running red wraths. Try utilizing Burrenton Forge-Tender in the side as well. It also does decent against RDW.

Hardened Scales has the problem that it isn't a win con, it's a win more. Your deck doesn't win via a few single tough creatures, it wins by going wide. There are going to be more times in which that it becomes a dead draw as it requires you to play other things to make it useful. More removal spells will help you against the plethora of decks that this would have problems against, and Abrupt Decay is the best you are going to get beyond Path to Exile. Merfolk, twin, infect, affinity and jund all come to mind.

Remember, ever since merfolk became T1, more and more people are playing things like Ghostly Prison, Engineered Explosives, red-based wraths and more things like those. Abrupt Decay helps solidify your position against them. And if you are weak to Torpor Orb, Abrupt Decay should be the card you are running over Hardened Scales.

Here's my suggestion with this site. Instead of just building with what you have, build as though you have everything. This way you can accurately playtest and figure out which cards are better in which situations.

Hmm you're right femme. I'll build as if I have everything. I will look at it later today hopefully. Got school now and I already know I have a lot of homework tonight q.q

Femme_Fatale, I haven't seen a lot of torpor orb coming in from the sb, but even so, that is what nature's claim would be for. Hardened scales is definitely not a win more card: It allows you to get your creatures out of bolt range, pyroclasm range, anger of the gods range. It lets you block merfolk and tarmogoyfs. It almost guarantees a turn 4 win that is the precise window you want when playing against the midrange decks. Femme_Fatale, I think you're leaning more towards a tempo feel, which is fine, but I think when you are relying on allies with +1+1 counters you need plenty of redundancy. If anything, for Nef, I'd suggest taking out the Adaptive-Automatio and one Ondu Cleric and putting in Akoum Battlesinger. It makes the turn 4 win alot more attainable, which the deck wants. The deck is ultimately meant to be a turn 4 win deck (I should know, I'm the one who originally created it). So if anything, the Abrupt Decays are a win more card. They could be fine in the sideboard, maybe as a replacement for nature's claim, but then you run into the other problem: we have tons of 2 drops already for the ally deck. What we really need is a one drop instant or something with convoke, which I found to work well with Ephemeral Shields. I think maindecking one Return to the Ranks is good metagaming against all the removal in the format, along with one Spellskite. This strategy worked well for me in a recent daily that I went 3-1 in.
