Unlimited Blade Works

Based on the team of Archer and Rin from the Anime/Visual Novel Fate/stay night, the deck combines mana generating artifacts and equipments to crush the opponent with a maelstrom of infinite blades.

Archer (Astor, Bearer of Blades) is the main fighter (and ideally the only creature). He'll be wielding every blade he can muster, and fighting all the battles. Meanwhile, Rin (Chandra, Torch of Defiance) will support from afar, throwing spells to protect Archer and hinder their opponents. Fueling all this is Rin's near-endless collection of mana-producing gemstones. The noble knight Saber also makes an appearance as Elspeth, Knight-Errant.

The deck comes with many legendary blades for Archer to summon. But the true power of the deck is the miracle known as Unlimited Blade Works: a world of infinite blades, produced (in this case) through infinite mana combos and the Ring of Ma'ruf, which makes the selection of blades as vast as the cards in my collection.

This deck is built around cards that convey the spirit of Fate/stay night, paying homage to its scenes, mechanics, and beats. That's why some staples are missing. But while keeping that aesthetic intact, I want to improve this deck as much as possible. All suggestions are appreciated. In particular, I think the following may help: - Ideas for infinite combos - Ways to keep the commander alive - Re-balancing the ratio of card types (esp. mana vs swords vs support) - Suggestions of more thematic cards

Explanations of Some Cards

(Warning: potential spoilers.)

Forcefield

Archer weilds the mystical shield, Rho Aias. In Greek mythology, this eight-layer shield safeguarded Ajax from all harm through the Trojan war. In the anime, it looks pretty epic: Rho Aias in Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works

Everflowing Chalice

Archer and Rin fight several magi to attain the Holy Grail. This chalice is said to contain unlimited power, enough to grant it's owner's every wish. Throughout the war, it gathers mana until it brims and overflows. The Holy Grail, overflowing with mana.

Extraplanar Lens and Blade of Selves (Spoilers for Heaven's Feel)

Show

Coldsteel Heart, Memory Jar, and Reforge the Soul

Archer's every action is calculated and mechanical. If you looked inside his mind, you would see gears and swords. An eternity of warfare has left him equal parts cold and powerful. In his words, "Steel is my body, and fire is my blood." When he's first summoned, he's even forgotten his memory. (He blames Rin xD) He eventually recalls his tragic past and despairs. He seeks solace through destruction before reclaiming his hopeful, naive, heroic spirit in a battle with his better half. Archer, internally.

Land Tax

The Tohsaka family is the most powerful in Fuyuki City. They own the territory of the Holy Grail war, and are responsible for reining-in resident rogue magi. Tohsaka enjoys opportunities to use her power, so Land Tax seems both hilarious and appropriate.

Silence

If Archer has a weakness, it's the long-range magic of the Caster class. Good thing Tohsaka can throw a mean punch! Tohsaka "silencing" Caster

Temple of the False God

Caster's home - and a perennial battleground - is the Ryuudou Temple. The Ryuudou Temple

Defense Grid

A mage's workshop is protected by an array of spells designed to ward off, hinder, or expose intruders.

Darksteel Ingot, Fire Diamond, Gemstone Array, Gemstone Mine, Lion's Eye Diamond, Marble Diamond, Mox Diamond, Mox Opal, Dawn Charm, Veilstone Amulet

Tohsaka's always armed with an array of gems packed with mana. They're a versatile force, providing a reserve of mana, or projectiles with differing effects on impact. When they come out, she means business; they don't come cheap, and she's spent years charging some of them personally. Rin with her gems and spellbook.

Curse of Exhaustion

Rin's standard attack is the bullet-like Gandr Shot curse, which wounds and exhausts targets. Gandr Shot
