Commander / EDH Burn Combo Control Creatureless UR (Izzet)

rasck

Maybeboard

This deck is an upgraded version of my budget deck Mizzix' burning budget.

The purpose with the upgrade is still to be within the casual deck range (I do not want to win with infinite combos or stacking the deck with extra turn spells), but be more consistent, have better means to recur/protect our commander and also have better mechanisms to work without the commander.
Some notable mentions:
- Lands: There are more lands that can tap for or . Lands that can protect Mizzix.

- Ramp: Cards like Coalition Relic is a really great upgrade to fixing the mana and Turnabout to create more bursts of mana.

- Increasing Vengeance has been replaced with its bigger cousin Reiterate for more broken Mizzix fun.

- Creatures: There are a few creatures I think is relevant for this deck, as replacement for Mizzix: Psychosis Crawler, Niv-Mizzet, Parun, Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind, The Locust God. In the current version, there are no creatures. I experiment from time to time. Depends on the reason Mizzix gets hated. If the reason is sacrifice effects, it doesn't help a lot to add any of these creatures. We are better of winning by spell slinging without any creatures on the board.

- Artifacts / Enchantments: You will find no Lightning Greaves or Diplomatic Immunity. The idea is to use bounce, Blink of an Eye, counter magic Confound or redirect Wild Ricochet to protect Mizzix. Casting and attaching Lightning Greaves or Diplomatic Immunity happens at sorcery speed and does not give us experience counters. The other effects are instant, can be used for defence or offence, can give us experience counters, easy to tutor, easy to recur and in some cases replace them selves with card draw. Finally i think cards like Diplomatic Immunity has a bad political impact. The rest of the board will most likely get provoked by such a card. It just screams "this creature needs to be removed". Bouncing Mizzix of the Izmagnus is much better in my opinion

- Recursion: Past in Flames is really good, try it :-)

- Win conditions: I've added Rite of Replication (also fun with Radiate) and Mizzix's Mastery as alternative win conditions. They can both help win the game, if Mizzix has been hated out. Mizzix's Mastery should search for Enter the Infinite and Inner Fire or some other means to create a lot of mana Turnabout, Mana Geyser etc. And then cast a burn spell from your hand maybe with the help from a copy spell.

The main win condition is based on:
1. Draw a lot of cards with either Enter the Infinite, X spells such as Blue Sun's Zenith or Radiate and Blink of an Eye etc
2. Inner Fire for mana, other ways to pump up the mana are Turnabout, Mana Geyser etc
3. Pick a way to set the world on fire: Fanning the Flames, Master the Way. Reiterate can help get you there faster.
Other means to win:
- Empty your opponents deck with targeted draw spells and some copy spells
- Copy their creatures and kindly return their creatures to hand in end-step with Radiate on Supplant Form
- kill with Cerebral Vortex with wheel or targeted draw spells and Reiterate would like to help out...
- a kicked Rite of Replication maybe add a Reiterate or Radiate to the mix. (if you do not kick Rite of Replication, then Rite of Replication + Radiate is essentially just Clone Legion but for every player, and for the same total cost as Clone Legion!)
- Mizzix's Mastery and Past in Flames can also open up for some unexpected wins.
