Faith's ShieldMTG Card: Faith's Shield should be able to save your general/ enchantment since it can hit permanents and save them from a naturalize, etc.

Norn's AnnexMTG Card: Norn's Annex

Silent ArbiterMTG Card: Silent Arbiter

Well.... if you're running PariahMTG Card: Pariah you may as well run Stuffy DollMTG Card: Stuffy Doll. Also gives them something to think about if they attack lol.

Emeria, The Sky RuinMTG Card: Emeria, The Sky Ruin would work well here to make sure you keep things on the table. I'm not going to lie this looks super annoying to play against! +1

Also, some of the removal enchantments are kind of weak. Specifically Ghostly Possession, I think an Arrest would be better.

hey noises. are you sure that would work? the effect is prevent damage. doesn't damage need to happen to make stuffy doll work? maybe i'm just being a moron.

I think Grand AbolisherMTG Card: Grand Abolisher might be nice in this deck, dealing with counterspells and such.

It would redirect all of the damage that the player would take to stuffy doll which in turn would redirect it to the chosen player. Pretty funny actually

If Rune-Tail, Kitsune AscendantMTG Card: Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is active, Stuffy DollMTG Card: Stuffy Doll won't deal any damage to the Chosen player because it doesn't redirect that damage, it just deals as much damage as it was dealt, which thanks to Rune-Tail, Kitsune AscendantMTG Card: Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant is zero. However, it would act as a deterrent to destroying my active Rune-Tail, Kitsune AscendantMTG Card: Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant. Nevertheless I probably won't use it because that Card is only at it's best when the only deck as a whole is functioning at it's worst.

Ghostly PossessionMTG Card: Ghostly Possession is here so I can use it on my own creature if need be. it can turn one creature in to a great blocker which I could need if for some reason I am not finding a flyer to defend against other fliers. If used on Palace GuardMTG Card: Palace Guard, it becomes the Perfect Blocker. And if needed it can still be used as half of a PacifismMTG Card: Pacifism ( the attack half).

I would probably include Prison Term or card:Faith's Fetters instead of Ghostly Possession , because it just seems very situational. card:Faith's Fetters is a great card for shutting down all sorts of permanents.

Maybe lose the Angelic Page , perhaps swap for a Daru Warchief or something else that pumps your creatures.

Rest for the Weary is usually better than card:Angel's Mercy but I normally don't include cards like this in a deck unless they have more purposes (like Renewed Faith in an Astral Slide -deck)

I would swap the Shepherd of the Lost for a Baneslayer Angel , gaining you more life.

Well of Lost Dreams fits your deck perfectly I think.

If you had a fast way of casting Avacyn, Angel of Hope , then it would be too obvious for this strategy. Then you could even use Mageta the Lion ...

I was quite surprised when I didn't see a Worship in the deck (maybe have a look at it?). Two Pariah effects in a 100-card deck without tutors may not be enough...

Creatures I'd drop are: Voiceless Spirit , Pride Guardian , Serra Angel , Honor Guard , Conclave Phalanx , Guardian of the Guildpact

Add a Stonehewer Giant and a Stoneforge Mystic to find your card:Pariah's Shield

Patron of the Kitsune is perhaps a better option than Righteous Cause

I don't really understand why the kithkin and soldier theme is important in this deck, there doesn't seem to be a primary goal in your choice of creatures, so it's hard to give any accurate suggestions. This deck could still go in any direction...

Suggestions for creatures are: Student of Warfare , Stoneforge Mystic , Fountain Watch , Commander Eesha , Beloved Chaplain , Serra Avatar , Reveillark , Intrepid Hero , Akroma, Angel of Wrath , Aven Mindcensor , Weathered Wayfarer , Eight-and-a-Half-Tails , Order of the Stars , Loyal Cathar  Flip , Windborn Muse , Stonehewer Giant , Baneslayer Angel , Auriok Champion , Purity , Dawn Elemental , Patron of the Kitsune , Suture Priest , Exalted Angel , Serra Avenger , Battlegrace Angel , Kor Aeronaut , Whipcorder , Cloudgoat Ranger , Hero of Bladehold , Captain of the Watch , Field Marshal , Darien, King of Kjeldor , Ballyrush Banneret , Preeminent Captain , Kinsbaile Cavalier , Wizened Cenn , Goldmeadow Stalwart , Knight of Meadowgrain , Mirror Entity , Angel of Jubilation , Serra Ascendant , Felidar Sovereign

Other good cards for this deck might be: card:Akroma's Memorial, Chalice of Life  Flip , Words of Worship , Beacon of Immortality , Lifeline , Enlightened Tutor

Wow. A lot of information and a lot of questions. First off, Soldiers and Kithkin are here mostly because I needed something tying the deck's creatures together. They also enable Catapult Master and Thoughtweft Trio . I guess what is not obvious about this build is that it is very little about Pariah and Rune-Tail, Kitsune Ascendant , and mostly about A large, Cheap army that starts off invulnerable, and becomes invincible. And Again Ghostly Possession , much like Vow of Duty , is usually going to be played on one of my creatures as a defensive boost. I really don't see why people don't think it is good as I do but I really like it.

You are most certainly right that card:Angel's Mercy was not needed at all. The deck really doesn't care to much about life gaining. Mageta the Lion is good but Myojin of Cleansing Fire is faster and more durable.

Worship added.

Patron of the Kitsune is more durable in this deck than Righteous cause but Righteous Cause draws some the hate from my commander and might expend some of the enchantment removal. Lightmine Field is in there for the same reasons, to draw the "enchant hate" and maybe effect the game a little on way out.

As for the Creature Suggestions, Thank you very much. I didn't realize so many great creatures there were. I will work on acquiring those creatures.

Fountain Watch and Greater Auramancy are a MUST then, to keep your enchantments in play a little longer.

too bad card:Hanna, Ship's Navigator is out of the question, and too bad Skull of Orm isn't any good, but there still are Auramancer , Monk Idealist , Tragic Poet , Mine Excavation , Argivian Find and Replenish to get some of your important enchantments back. Too bad they're all one-time solutions.

About your creature base, I don't think the Kithkin and soldiers are needed, but it's a matter of preference. There are still a lot of good kithkins and soldiers that could be added, or you could explore a less tribal (and therefor restrictive) collection of creatures.

Open the Vaults is an interesting card here. Not sure if you would want to add it though, as it hits everybody.

This looks like a lot of fun on a great budget. I'd say try things like Sphere of Safety, Ghostly Prison, Chalice of Life  Flip, Serra Avatar, Martyr of Sands, Archangel's Light, and Weathered Bodyguards. And honestly, if you're willing to spend a little Boon Reflection, Rhox Faithmender, Felidar Sovereign, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Serra Ascendant all do crazy amounts of work in a deck like this.

Also if you're willing to get a Test of Endurance, that'd be swell.

chrispmatth's suggestions are all good, especially Ghostly Prison, Windborn Muse, Felidar Sovereign.

I am a little surprised you are not playing wraths. Stuff like Mageta the Lion, Magus of the Disk, Wrath of God, Planar Cleansing (especially since your artifact count is so low) will go a long way.

Also, it is a shitty card to play in EDH, but it might be necessary to play Condemn... just in case.

Also, Endless Horizons is a big help.

March 17, 2013 12:32 p.m.

chrslrch says... #19

dominicd:Endless Horizons is a good card. As soon as I find a slot for it it will be added. Condemn is a good one as well But the reason there are not more wrath effects is because I don't want my stuff to blow. Many wraths affect enchantments, which I rely on, and if I am to actually win at all, it will be by shear numbers, which is why I need my creatures. Sadly, my stuff does not get "indestructible" as often as I would like.

m12fox: I like Path to Exile and Swords to Plowshares But the other things you listed are played often in my meta game ( so legend rule issues) and the draw a lot of negative attention.

chrispmatth: You sir, had a lot to say.

  • I don't want Boon Reflection because it takes up an enchantment Slot but Rhox Faithmender is an excellent substitute. Not only is it a creature, which lets me keep my Creature count at 33 where I want it, but it also has lifelink, so it triggers itself.
  • Sphere of Safety is a great addition. It is usually better than Ghostly Prison or Windborn Muse
  • I had Chalice of Life  Flip in there for a while but took it out because I Didn't like how it played. Maybe I will put it back in and see how it does now.
  • Weathered Bodyguards is another Pariah effect which is excellent.
  • Serra Avatar does an excellent job of making my life total an offensive number.
  • Felidar Sovereign is also a good win condition but it is very expensive
  • Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is way too expensive right now for me to think about. If I happen across one. it will go right in but, as for now, I will not even entertain that fanciful notion

Pretty good deck. I like it. I would warn you of Iona, Shield of Emeria - as I do to all mono-coloured EDH decks.
