I played a slightly modified version of this at my FNM last Friday. Absolute biggest problem was in G/W humans decks, of which there were several. There are not enough Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Withins in the world to keep that thing under control if you can't take care of him in a turn or two. It was saddening.

Why would you use a beasts within on the mayor, rather than just fogging? The beasts are to deal with cards that threaten to win via non-damage means.

This thing gets murdered by anything burn, maybe a vensers journal? elixer is not enough when they're playing devils play, or is witchbane orb for burners?

Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb seems to be the anti-burn defense, which hurts the "budget" aspect. But it's still pretty solid.

Not really, Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb is only like 50 cents.

Yeah, people aren't keen on Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb, I'm just a huge fan.

I made pretty much the same deck...and then I ran into HellriderMTG Card: Hellrider. He's one of those cards you can't really do anything about, or you have to hope you have Beast Withins and can then speed up the mill.

also Jace, the Mind SculptorMTG Card: Jace, the Mind Sculptor. just sayin, i have 4x NegateMTG Card: Negate in my sideboard, that helps a lot with control. if only DispelMTG Card: Dispel was still legal...

Snapcaster MageMTG Card: Snapcaster Mage + Phantasmal ImageMTG Card: Phantasmal Image would be great, if this wasn't budget.

@ skyb0rg:Infect won't be a problem because the decks that use it to win are few and far between. Either way, if they're playing infect it's usually fast and won't use the proliferate mechanic. Plus, if you have enough FogMTG Card: Fogs, the only card that will deal you any counters would be Virulent WoundMTG Card: Virulent Wound, but you don't have any creatures to use it on! I wouldn't worry about it. Focus on the most powerful decks in Standard.

If money wasn't a problem, how this deck works?

I just want to see I appreciate those of you who have been answering questions, I have been rather busy lately and don't check the site as often as I normally would so this is very helpful, thanks!

Livewire LashMTG Card: Livewire Lash becomes a problem playing infect decks. They just pump their Glistener ElfMTG Card: Glistener Elf five times and that's the game.

Imagine playing Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb after a livewire. Good times...

Have you considered putting a Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb mainboard? Most of the problem cards in the format can be solved with the Orb. Having a single copy mainboard will give you a better chance at winning game 1 against decks sporting these cards.

ive been playing a mono green turbo fog and ive found that i either stall the game for days, i drop my Dungrove ElderMTG Card: Dungrove Elders quick to win, or i just outright lose. im thinking of trying the u/g version like this again and seeing how it works out. +1 from me guy

So I ran this deck at an FNM I went to without the Consecrated SphinxMTG Card: Consecrated Sphinx but an added in Jace, Memory AdeptMTG Card: Jace, Memory Adept and it did very well! Thank you for the deck idea and a definite +1 from me!

Going to standard tonight with this deck. Slightly different sideboard, and the sphinx is swapped out with an undead alchemist. Can't wait to see how it goes!

April 6, 2012 12:47 p.m.

Well that was unsuccesful. Not having Witchbane orbs (was hoping to buy them before the event but none there...) really ruined me. Allowed infect to proliferate me, and sideboarded burn to kill me. This is a very fun deck but those parts are a bit integral. Would probably mainboard the witchbane orb over the increasing confusions.

I wanted to kno if uve got tips on sideboarding, as i brought a similar deck to my stores last fnm and got beat horribly mostly due to bad siding...
