Willen For a two card combo that really only interact with each other and no realistic way to tutor either in the deck, not worth the slot. Nothing wrong with running it if you're budget or able to make better use making non dragons into dragons. But in my case, the list is already so tight and having a two card "combo" that requires a lot of mana and having no one interact just seems unlikely to happen.

Stinging Study was just revealed. Instant speed, 5 mana, draw 9 is pretty amazing.

jasinatael Hmmm 5 mana Draw 9 is pretty powerful but I'm not so sure on the losing 9 life part. I'd have to think about it more since there's not a ton of ways to gain the life back and could very easily just die after casting it.

And about the new Elder Dragons? Since I saw Shadrix Silverquill, I'm get in love with that dragon. In my thoughts, Shadrix may be the only new elder dragon to include in the deck, until now.

So nice to see the updates! I have a similar version to this deck. I have two questions: Bladewing the Risen , isn't he such good value (2 dragons + the pump) not to include?
And Sarkhan the Masterless feels a bit clunky in the deck, have you had much success with him?
In any case, this is such a fun primer to follow! 10/10

Niemandswasser Outside of the reanimation, the body and ability isn't really super relevant. I've never been a huge fan plus the mana requirements is a little more difficult than a normal dragon. Sarkhan has been perfectly fine. Passive acts like a Ghostly Prison if you're able to set up multiple dragons that protect you. Plus, Dragonlord Silumgar instantly kills all the attackers with deathtouch.

Is there anyway you could add non-dragons to the Notable Exclusions section? Things like Dragonspeaker Shaman and other supporting cards.

Hey there, I try running a similar deck, but my meta is very sac and target removal heavy. Any advise?

Hekebolas, Steely Resolve and Tamiyo, Collector of Tales may help.
May 5, 2021 9:37 a.m.
Hekebolas Either run some of the cheaper dragons that give some etb value, have more permanents that provide protection for your creatures like Monastery Siege or Steely Resolve or have you deck be way more focused on recursion to rebuy/bring back Dragons from your graveyard.

I just saw the new spoiler for Tiamat, and I know it is not out yet, but damn, can this be a possible Ur-Dragon replacement?
May 9, 2021 6:56 p.m.
Niemandswasser It technically could be. Do I plan to? Nope. The cost reduction across all Dragons is way better in my opinion than searching up dragons that you can only cast once a turn. I know the Morophon lines make you pop off if you untap but doesn't seem exciting and like you'll do the same thing everygame. Definitely going in the 99 of my deck permanently for sure.

And the new Scion of Draco ? What a lovely Dragon. I'm curious if you'll include it in your deck. Looking ahead, maybe Scion of Draco could be part of a big mess with Tiamat , Morophon, the Boundless , The Ur-Dragon and the Elder Dragons, making the entire field afraid of dragons.

Man I love seeing Dragon Decks like these in any TCG game, but Magic especially. Having a 5 color dragon deck since early Tarkir myself, then upgraded once the 2017 precons came out, I always take a little look at your logic behind incorporations of different cards. With the new Modern Horizons set coming out, have you taken any thought to some of the revealed dragons? I know the new elder dragon, Piru, the Volatile , is simply a little bit improved Ryusei, however Tiamat , Scion of Draco , and even the new land in MH2, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth , all seem like worthy additions.

I'm Very Interested to see what changes are made going into d&d, look forward to seeing them soon!

Maybe Tiamat isn't a good choice to include if have more dragons to switch, but still a good dragon with such a nice pressure. Surely, Old Gnawbone and Inferno of the Star Mounts will be a mandatory choice to deck. Maybe Ebondeath, Dracolich will be include by it's recursivity. Iymrith, Desert Doom is a Dragonlord Ojutai less powerfull, and I don't believe that Icingdeath, Frost Tyrant will be played at all. Oh, I've forgoten Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient . This dragon will bring a lot of value when played with The Ur-Dragon deck. The lesser dragons will excluded for sure. That's was my thoughts about the new dragons, but certanly we will have more creatures or spells to consider.

I think Orb of Dragonkind might be more favorable then Coalition Relic and its more flavor accurate.

Another inclusion to deck, maybe, would be Dragonborn Champion . Very interesting card do add.
So much ideas hahaha

Honestly after giving Tiamat more thought I think it could have the potential to see Sneak Attack make it's way back into the deck.
July 25, 2021 2:15 a.m.
Jator, sneak attack doesn’t work with Tiamat unfortunately.
I have 19 high powered commander decks built and this Ur dragon list is BY FAR my favorite. I can’t wait to see his updated from forgotten realms.
July 25, 2021 10:02 a.m.
adhermes yes it does you play Tiamat which lets you tutor then you Sneak Attack what you tutor.
July 25, 2021 2:52 p.m.
So I also run an Ur-Dragon deck and have a build very similar to yours. I agree with all of your comments about the dragons in this set. It's so thematic, but many of them just don't make the cut with a more tuned and powerful Ur-Dragon list.
I plan to get an Orb of Dragonkind asap for my list, and an Old Gnawbone as soon as I can find one.
I did want to ask if you had thought about Bard Class ? I'm not sure the investment in it is worth it, but with so many legendary creatures, it might be good for the cost reduction and the additional cards. I do see a potential issue with not having enough mana to cast the cards you exile with the class card, but wanted to see what you thought and it if could have a place.

Great update, love it as always! Have you considered adding Minion of the Mighty and Temple of the Dragon Queen in the deck?

Hi, MattN7498. First of all, Sorry, I've accidentally posted the same message as below on your wall, but I didn't want to( How can I remove it?
Your Ur-Dragon deck is fantastic! I've been here for up to 3 years and created this account only to thank You. I was created Ur-Drgagon deck too, and your deck showed me, that all of my driends, who said that Ur-Dragon couldn't be enough powerfull, where wrong. Now my deck becoming a complete copy(I didn't have fetch-lands and triomes yet, but I'm working out of that ^-^). Can I ask you for some help? I saw that you tried to put on Whip of Erebos , but finalu cut it out. Should I use a Shadowspear in my Ur-Dragon? I've got some opponents with indistructible creatures like Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger , Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre , Purphoros, God of the Forge , Ormendahl, Profane Prince and some others. Furthermore, with dragons like Drakuseth, Maw of Flames , Terror of the Peaks , Atarka, World Render and some others it may help you to gain tones of life! ...But did you test it? How your Ur-Dragon may smash, for ecample, opponents with God-tribal decks? Thank you, have a good day! Best wishes, Ur-Fan.

So... If you use Arcane Adaptation to change all creatures in library into God type, and sacriface The World Tree by it's effect, you can put all dragons in field, triggering it's effects like Terror of the Peaks, Scourge of Valkas, etc. This pseudo-combo isn't a idea to consider?
