you need some draw cards in there. Probably the best would be Niv-mizzet, but if you can't get him then maybe think twice or something because i was play testing it and i ran out of cards FAST!

no Epic Experiment ? imo it could be a good way to get off a bunch of spells off at once.

Electromancers don't do much? they turn cancel into counterspell, and think twice becomes instant speed 1UU-draw 2 cards(and if you have 2 on the board it's UU for 2 cards!), not too mention their potential to make overloads on rift and mortars that much easier to cast.On another note, with multiple electromancers in play, epic experiment becomes phenomenal. ;)

burning vengeance and a poop load of flash backs in addition to guttersnipe (does 2 for cast 4 for flashbacked cast)

Oh, pssh you're being silly and pessimistic. This deck will work fine with some tweaking. Try Searing Spear , also. It's an Instant, unlike Mortars.

The current version of this deck is actually working a lot better than the old burn-control mash up. Now i'm getting most of my burn from Guttersnipe s, and i'm able to get and keep my threats out. I'll see how Searing Spear works out, though.
@ Esmic, I feel like Epic Experiment would work a lot better in a burn-heavy deck than a control deck, seeing as any milled counterspells would do basically nothing and bounces wouldn't have too many targets.
@ sodamancer, I'd like Goblin Electromancer to help, but from what i've tested with it in, it really doesn't do much. It helps make the overloads more affordable, sure, but I rarely end up having to use those anyway, and by the time I do, i'm normally able to afford them and still have some mana left over.
@ Jace_the_Mind_Scluptor697, a Burning Vengeance Guttersnipe deck was never the plan, and I don't really want to build one.
October 2, 2012 5:14 p.m.
Well with Guttersnipe out on the field you just use the first counter spell to counter your first burn then counter that counter spell with ever other counterspell after. The great part about it means that all of them would have been cast dealing at least 2 damage apiece plus whatever else you cast. I do agree though, not the best synergy.

I didn't know about Guttersnipe. This card looks incredible.

I bought 6 packs of RtR today. I pulled an Armada Wurm and a Hallowed Fountain , but no Guttersnipe .
I was disappointed.

If you've been reading the Daily Dose articles, then I'm sure you'll agree with me when I say Counterflux needs to make an appearance in this deck. I'd replace Unsummon with it, since you already have a playset of Cyclonic Rifts in it.

I have been reading the daily dose, mostly to work out how I want to build my own Grixis deck.Completely failed to realize that I can run Counterflux in this deck.

Either you guys were thinking too narrowly or you did all this pre-gatecrash cause guttersnipe triggers with cipher so pretty much gives you crazy new options! check out my deck and perhaps give me some suggestions or just gain inspiration for yours Izzet Combo - Looking for feedback

Cipher is too risky for this deck. You run the risk of getting 2-for-1'd all over the place since nothing he owns has evasion or is unblockable unless he feels like running Artful Dodge, though that would be too risky to pull off. Plus he'd be shorting himself cards he could be using to control his opponent.

I'd have to majorly rework the deck if I wanted to do cipher stuff. I could make another cipher build, but I won't be changing this one to accommodate cipher abuse.

I feel like Izzet Charm is insane and does everything you want it to in this deck. Faithless Looting also seems amazing because it can help you dig for your Guttersnipes and Talrands and it can provide 4 damage with Guttersnipe late game if you have him out.

I run charm in the build I have in real life, and it never really does much for me. It does less damage than a Searing Spear for a harder cost, stops fewer spells than Negate for a harder cost, and is a worse Faithless Looting. Not a fan.

I've been working on a similar themed deck...using Guttersnipe to deal damage to opponent, but more as a side game plan: the deck is Izzet Snipers
One suggestions that comes to mind is Cackling Counterpart as it triggers guttersnipes 2 damage and can copy them to deal even more damage with each new spell.
I've incorparated Dragon's Maze new Nivix Cyclops into the main game plan with evasion and plenty of cheap spells to pump and hit hard.
Splashing white seems to help with more damage and saving my creatures from destruction. I'd like to find an efficient and continuous card drawing mechanism.Staff of Nin is a great draw effect but at 6 CMC do you find it too late to be helpful in the game?
I like your use of Talrand, Sky Summoner and may try it in place of my Fluxcharger
I'd appreciate any suggestions you have for my deck.

Cackling Counterpart feels a little expensive, but then it's the same cost as dissipate and i'm just letting the 7-cost flashback get to me. Maybe
Nivix Cyclops is something i'll consider adding once I get more of them and have time to think on it. Don't know how well it would work with my current build, and I only have one from the prerelease ATM.
In my local group, there's really only one deck that consistently beats me before Staff of Nin can be relevant. Every other deck I run into is too slow against me to get through before Staff can come out. These decks win way more when I run out of gas, and Staff of Nin helps me not do that.
I've found Talrand, Sky Summoner to be a bit slow where I am, but maybe your local meta is different. I'd say maybe to Talrand, but I think Nivix Cyclops and Fluxcharger are going to be better options (get the Fluxcharger through unblocked and THEN switch P/T. Consider spells that might boost toughness and apply them before switching. A single Mizzium Skin makes it a 6/1 with hexproof if you cast another spell afterward, and a 5/2 with hexproof if you use the Mizzium Skin cast to flip P/T

From your story update of going 3-12, what decks does this deck tend to lose against? I think I'd recommend, focusing on the more key cards by bumping those up to 4 copies, and lower some of the more fringe cards by dropping them down to 1 or 2 copies, or maybe even consider removing them.
I've constructed a similar RU Izzet deck, but committed more whole-heartedly for the Spellheart Chimera , and dropped the extra creature components. It's called, "I Heart Spell-Chimeras". I'd be interested in any counter-feedback you may have.

The 3-12 was back during INN-RTR standard and I don't remember what always beat me except Thragtusk and Huntmaster, neither of which are exactly in standard at this point. I'm going to be doing some testing of approximately this version (can't quite afford the temples and the three steam vents i'm missing) at FNM this week and I'll be sure to post an update then. I feel like i'm probably going to need to focus the deck more though, yeah.

have you thought about Electrickery ? might be a nice side board card for some token hate although tokens are getting tougher so maybe you get the urge to kill all the mana dorks?
